Has Obama Neutralized Lieberman?
Notice how Lieberman has not been making trouble lately and he voted for the stimulus with his head down?

Is it because Obama basically saved his political life, or did Lieb have a change of heart on his own?

1. It does seem rather odd - maybe we overwhelmed him?
I know I wrote him and told him that he was an... well, I'd better not say it LOL

3. I think Lieberman is a Dem at heart.
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 10:34 PM by liberalmuse
It's odd, because I'd thought he'd go running to the Republican Party long ago since he seems more conservative than liberal, but he votes along our lines more than he doesn't. I think it was wise to not oust him. Granted, I might change my mind up the road, but in the last few votes, he's proved his worth to the Democratic Party.

4. my opinion is
he is an attention whore, but even he realized that, once he was caught with his pants down (figuratively) after his boy Johnny lost, he was completely screwed politically, so he shaped up once Obama and the Dems spared his political life.

5. Bingo. He was a Man Without A Country.
They didn't want or trust him, and his incessant war-mongering falls on deaf ears now.

He slunk back with his tail between his legs, knowing that this is it for him as a politician.

His balls are in a tobacco tin on the mantle somewhere. He might get to see them once in a while, if he's a good boy.

6. I think he's a coward and a political whore with no self-esteem at heart.
What does he stand for? Apparently, whatever the party in power stands for. Chickenshit little traitor. "Independent Democrat," my ass.

15. Was he a Dem at heart while giving Caribou Barbie foreign policy lessons
during the campaign? Hmmmm.

Me thinks Senator Traitorman is in the business of saving his politicatl butt these days.

I'll take the vote. I won't forget what he did, though.

7. Lieberman is nothing more than a slavering lackey.
A sniveling, sycophantic boot licker who fawns over anyone in power. He sucks, big time.

8. Obama has basically co-opted Lieberman
the truth is Lieberman is a democrat and votes with them 90%+ of the time. But stupid Joe had gone down the road of buying Bush's terror world view so strongly (much like Dennis Miller jumped the shark after 9/11) that hebelieved he would have looked even more foolish if he completely shifted gears. Of course he should not have openly backed McCain, that was incredibly bad judgment but consistent with his prior shark jumping over terra.

Of course he's still a whore, but he's Obama's whore now.

9. That was always my take.
That was a decision that totally paid off. Lieberman is an attention whore. Seeing him go unpunished was personally painful, but knowing he couldn't go whining to the media and republicans about how put upon he was by the mean old dems...that was awesome.

11. Lieberman's only path to relevance is through Obama
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 11:10 PM by AllentownJake
If he had continued to buck the democrats and play paddycake with the right he's a sure goner no matter what the political climate is in conneticut in 2012 and he spends the next 4 years in minority hell. If he behaves himself he's only probably gone in 2012 and he gets to be part of the majority for 4 years.

14. Joe tends to vote with the Dems on economic issues.
It's foreign policy and military matters where he crosses the aisle.
