I think tonight is a good example of why you should think twice before betting against Obama...
How many times has he been "sunk" in the last 2 years? And how many times has proved his detractors wrong?

Oh, let me count the ways.

This man is a counter-puncher, a finisher, and a closer. What doesn't kill him, makes him stronger.

That's what happens when you have truth on your side.

2. the truth has been on our side for a long time...
it takes a person with good intentions for the long haul to finally use it.

Also, he's a master of the political rope a dope.

3. Don't bother. They'll never learn....
And odds are, Obama will fuck up at least *once* along the way. And they'll be waiting, slavering, with the "SEE??? I TOLD YOU SO!!!!"

5. For instance: He bumped his head on his helicopter today.
You can bet he will not do that again. He learns, corrects himself and moves on. He really is a perfect example of evolution at it's finest (I'm kind of kidding and being melodramatic with that last part.)

6. And god. don't forget god. And the American way.
By the way, I always thought Obama was going to get a stimulus passed.

I was with you until your last line.

10. Perhaps that was a step over the line but I really think that's why he succeeds...
My sense is that he starts with "what works" and "what is historically true" and goes from there. So, whenever he gets boxed into a political corner, nagging history repeating itself proves him right.

Think of the Palin turning point where she burst onto the scene and temporarily the trendlines flipped to McCain. Woe was us. But then someone posted the "Shut the Fuck UP, I Got This!" picture and had some of saying... hmmm it seems like Obama is down... but maybe he does "GOT THIS".

Lo and behold, all the shit he had been saying about the economy exploded w/ the implosion of Lehmen, Bear-Sterns, and AIG. Meanwhile McCain is saying the economy is fundamentally sound, looking like a total dork. The truth, as Obama professed it, was on Obama's side and turn the tide and closed the deal.

This has happened more than once.

Everytime I scratch my head about the guy I find out that the truth keeps backing him up.

How many political lives does he have? I don't know. But I'm not betting against him.

15. The first thing i posted after Palin was selected was, "Which McCain Aide was doing LSD?
Palin never once worried me. Long before the wails and screams in terror I knew Palin was a gift.

Do you know how many Repos, let alone Independents couldn't stand Palin? Lot's couldn't. really lots.

Only the Fundies liked her, and they still do. But the Fundies aren't enough.

Obama didn't do anything vis a vis Sarah Palin, she did it all.

I think Obama is smart, and he's a great politition. But when he fudged to his activist wing about FISA, he didn't come out looking great. It's just that:

A. Who else did the activists have to vote for, post primary and all(the answer is nobody)and

B. Lots of Obama supporters didn't know FISA from Adam. and

C. Obama put together a really wide coalition that had deep support through much of it's width, so even as the activists were disappointed and cool about FISA when Obama flip flopped, Obama still had an Army of people who were serious about no more bush no matter what, even as they have remained mostly oblivious to the FISA transformation and what it means.

I did a lot of work in the primaries and I met a lot of Obama's field staff. They were exceptionally well trained. I think it's the commitment to organizing that has served Obama well. It's not magic, and it's not astounding. It's a lot of hard work.

23. I think I should have said "reality" rather than "truth". Is their a difference?
Not sure. However, it sounds less messianic.

12. And, he has shown he has BALLS in abundance, too.
Unfortunately, that's what you need to defeat people without brains (Neoconservatives.)

I have supported Obama since Day One, and I will jump off a cliff if he asks me to. He knows who he works for, and he's looking out for us.

I will bet on that! They'll just move on to the next thing to find fault in. That's their self assigned job.

16. Agreed, I've slowly learned to trust him
Which isn't to say we shouldn't write, call, and e-mail when we disagree with his decisions. In fact, he wants us to do that.

I just think he's earned political trust.
