Just asked Obama directly for help for her family who appears to be homeless. I think she's going to get it.

I am still crying. She lives in her car with her family. What the hell is wrong with this country?? He did say that his staff will speak to her after the meeting and he gave her a kiss and a hug.

People are hurting so badly they can hardly put it into words, and this is the first time in 8 years that someone has listened to them.

. . .this is what happens when you reach out directly to the American people. Not sure what he can do but hopefully he can motivate both Government and Non Government Agencies to take action. This should not be happening in America.

But one bit of visible help to someone lucky enough to get the President's ear does not make up for the fact that the population of homeless Americans is growing or that the solutions for homelessness are not being adequately funded.

27. It's light-years from when Bush said to a woman who had just told him she has THREE jobs: |
|
BUSH: HOLDING THREE JOBS 'UNIQUELY AMERICAN' Tues Feb 8 2005 9:27:01 ET
Last Friday when promoting social security reform with 'regular' citizens in Omaha, Nebraska, President Bush walked into an awkward unscripted moment in which he stated that carrying three jobs at a time is 'uniquely American.'
While talking with audience participants, the president met Mary Mornin, a woman in her late fifties who told the president she was a divorced mother of three, including a 'mentally challenged' son.
The President comforted Mornin on the security of social security stating that 'the promises made will be kept by the government.'
But without prompting Mornin began to elaborate on her life circumstances.
Begin transcript:
MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.
THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?
MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.
THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

18. Anyone living in a car wouldn't have been able to attend an open house with W*. |
|
If the person looked dirty or unkept from living in a cardboard box or the car, security wouldn't have let them in.
Thank the voters for helping Barack and Michelle get to where they needed to be to have the greatest inpact on peoples' lives.
I bet the freepers are boiling right now and claiming the President molested Ms. Hughes.

It takes a while to get "unkept" and living in a cardbaord box. My physical trainer before she had her own business right after the war (she was in the marines) she was living out of her car for almost a year.

NYC's Port Authority, e.g., has signs disallowing ANY washing, teeth-brushing, etc. Do you think homeless families would be allowed to shower in Saks Fifth Avenue 6th Floor restrooms?

29. I'm not claiming that anyone living in a car has to be a mess. I'm just saying Bush's |
|
security detail would be looking for anything that wasn't quite right, considering how "the elite" was his base.
Sorry if there was a misunderstanding. I had considered a move into my vehicle 17 years ago if it had been a minivan. Had the hygiene details pretty well worked out.
