Obama played this perfectly! |
|
He sat down with Repukes IMO only to soften support and peel off the 3 sane Republicans. Even if it is just 3 (and that is very sad,) it's enough. Obama's rhetoric after the House vote stood firm, and if anyone was weak, it was Reid. There's no way the media can call this a partisan stimulus if the Repukes helped to pass it. What is does is marginalize the 37 who voted against the bill.
This bill isn't perfect, and was watered down a little, but maybe some can be added back. Until we get 60 in the Senate, we should expect to have to compromise a little to peel off "moderate" Repukes. Obama played it so some change can actually happen.
President Obama just increased his grade so far from a B to an A- IMO.

1. Yes, and the audience applauding its passing - is an excellent visual. |

2. True - it was a great moment when Obama learned it passed |
|
And the reaction was wonderful. There was an openness you would have never seen with Bush.

5. Someone posted a very poignant thought yesterday, that the pukes failed miserably in their efforts |
|
to make the opposition to the stimulus bill bi-partisan. They look like the partisan ass-hats and failed to pick up even a single Dem in the Senate to support their efforts.
Total failure.
