So I altered my retirement fund today
I took everything I had in mutual funds and moved it to blue chips.

I figure we've about bottomed out again.

My retirement took a beating back in September and I did this move before, then moved back when I thought things would go down again. I've gained back about 70% of my September losses already doing this.

4. I figure it'll go up tomorrow
people will be bargain hunting.

I've found that the surest way to get ahead with stocks is to bet against what everybody else is doing, especially with an indexed fund. If everybody's buying, sell because it's getting over valued. If everybody's selling, buy, because everybody is being irrationally pessimistic.

I moved most of the balance in the 401k to bonds and managed funds. Any future investments are almost 100% in stocks.

8. Then I'll wait it out
but I don't think it'll dump that much. Watch, tomorrow there will be bargain hunters.

6. Thing was, I just had the money moved into retirement and did nothing
Mostly it went into mutual funds. NEver paid it any nevermind.

When everything went into the shitter, I figured I had to pay attention and move things around.

5. Hope you're under 30! I think we've got about 10 years of
low stock prices before we pull ourselves up enough to feel like we can make it.

I am retired and have to keep stocks at a minimal level of my portfolio.

7. Nope, mid-forties
I've got to take some risks to make up for the losses in the Bush economy, though.

9. My retirement funds did not take a beating because when stocks started heading down
I did not feel the obligation to watch as my investments bottomed out, but simply moved my money to something safer.

18. be very careful
caution when moving retirement funds around ... the IRS doesn't like it a whole lot.

Good luck, you'll be needing it.

19. The IRS only cares when you take the retirement funds OUT...what you do with them INSIDE a plan..
..is none of their concern...
