Republican congressional leaders ask Bobby Jindal to deliver the GOP response on the 24th

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/02/11/1790539.aspx

From NBC's Mark Murray
Not a big surprise, but still interesting nonethless... Republican congressional leaders have announced that they've tapped Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal to deliver the GOP response to President Obama's address to Congress on Feb. 24.

Although he's served as governor for slightly more than one year, Jindal, 37, is one of the GOP's rising political stars. What's more, for a Republican Party that's trying to extend its appeal beyond white voters, he's one of its most prominent minority faces.

2. Can someone explain to me why Jindal is a "rising political star"?

Something other than the GOP telling us that he is.

8. He's the Indian counterpart to Michael Steele in an otherwise 99% white wingnut GOP.

It's all about skin color and pretending to be "diverse" with them.

11. He's 37 years old, isn't a functional idiot, and hasn't gotten caught with a dead girl or live boy.
That's about it.

3. Perfect for a night cap
Jindal is the Vicoden/Ambien to Obamas ecstacy.

I was wondering how Id get to sleep after President Obamas wonderful address, glad the GOP was thinking about me.

6. Good. Jindal is untelegenic and not a charismatic speaker.

7. Tokens, tokens, who has the tokens?
Lets see now. They got one sorry excuse for a republican black and now they got another religious nutjob with Indian background. So that is suppose to show your including minorities? Listen you paraded minorities during Bush II election and they were seen traitors to their own communities. I doubt Steele who thinks he is big and bad is going to help the republicans. He is hurting you all. You all can talk the talk but you don't walk the talk.

10. I think Jindal is a wingnut - BUT at least he's qualified unlike Steele
Graduating from an Ivy League college and winning the governorship as an unknown is a bit more impressive than winning Lt. Gov and losing a senate race.
