OBAMA throws women of Arizona under the bus.
We warned you not to take our Govenor away. We warned you this shit would happen.

But you did it anyways.

Bill would let doctors refuse to do abortions if Legislature OKs
Arizona pharmacists who cite a moral objection could refuse to fill prescriptions for emergency contraception, according to legislation introduced this week at the state Capitol.

Similarly, the proposal - House Bill 2564 - would allow any hospital worker or health professional to refuse to participate in an abortion or dispense medication to abort a pregnancy.

term thrown under the bus, should get thrown under the fucking bus.

Fuck but that's an annoying phrase turned into a useless cliche and as overused as "The bottom line is" "At the end of the day" etc.

It pisses me off almost as much as the pricks adding the word gate to the ass end of ever scandal to come around the corner. That should be a hanging offense.

Ahhhh, that feels better.

49. "Thrown under the bus" was used constantly during the primaries.
It is almost always used to exaggerate the sins of the alleged thrower. Other expressions that ought to be banned from DU: "That's not change we can believe in," "poutrage," "the usual suspects," "get over it" (e.g., if one attacks Krugman, one is told to get over the primaries; and if one defends Krugman, one is told to get over the primaries), all references to Obama's being a "chessmaster" or "two steps ahead of his opponents," "he's only been in office for x days," "baggage," "unfortunately, in war innocent people get killed."

next in line is the Secretary of State

and in 4 of the last 5 governorships, the Secretary of State took over.

in fact, in of the oddest ones, they got Bruce Babbitt as 2nd in line for governor (as AZ Attorney General) was elevated after Governor Bolin died in 1978 (Bolin was Secretary of State becoming governor when Governor Castro was appointed to be an ambassador).

push back. Let your legislators know that if they vote for that objectionable bill, you're going to take them OUT.

It's not Obama's fault, any more than it's "Rahm's" fault when things happen that you don't like.

All politics is local. Get off your local ass and get moving to fight back.

Obama had an insidious plan to hire Napolitano as part of his cabinet in order to let the Republicans take over Arizona. It wasn't about choosing a qualified person to deal with national security issues. You know how it is. Obama never actually does things for a reason other than a hidden agenda. :silly:

I spent many decades in uniform, but surprisingly, even though the smart ones among us just didn't talk politics at work, I was pretty damned sure that I worked among a respectable number of Democrats and Independents. 82. As a former Arizonan, I can see the frustration
after half a century in the wilderness, Arizona is "almost" a blue state. In fact, if favorite son McCain was not the republican, Obama might have won the state (not a given). But if he doesn't screw up, I figure he' likely to take AZ in '12.

The frustration, however, is that the state is so close to turning blue, but now they are stuck with an incredibly reactionary, RW governor whose agenda looks like it is a plan to undo everything the last few democratic governors have accomplished. Democrats there are in such a tailspin that it is my understanding that one of the top dems in the state has already stepped down--saying he couldn't work in what promises to be a hostile RW environment.

That said, Napolitano looks like a good fit as DHS.

40. I'm sorry you feel that way and I'm sorry if I read into your post a meaning
you did not intend.

Did you read the other posts here? So many are slamming the state I live in and love very much.
I should not have singled out just your's.

Maricopa County (where I live) in particular. How 56% of them could vote for Joe Arpaio and and 58% for Andy Thomas makes me want to wash my hands of the lot of them.

And boy howdy do I understand what you mean! What is wrong with so many of the people here?
My hope is that with the influx of people over the years we'll be able to tip the balance to the Dems and really change things here for the better. In the meantime, Arpaio is getting old and can't be Sheriff forever.

I guess our successful and popular Governor Napolitano should have been chained to her desk and not allowed to advance. That's very helpful to woman, especially considering this was done by the legislature.

I agree that what the Arizona LEGISLATURE has done is appalling, but it in no way reflects on President Obama or Gov. Napolitano.

Go spread your bullshit elsewhere.

35. This isn't Obama's fault.
It's the voters of AZ for returning right wing nutbags to the legislature and even adding a few more. And the Democratic Party's for not having a better campaign strategy. Everyone here knew that we were probably going to lose Janet to the Obama admin. before the election.

47. Yep. I'm a Zonie and we have famously dumb voters.
I wouldn't even characterize us as really red state in terms of the people who live here. But there is an appalling level of ignorance among the voting populace. They are easily led by slogans and scaremongering. Joe Arpaio is a hero around these parts among a lot of people but they really don't know the truth about him. All they see is the pink underwear and the chain gangs and they think he's tough on crime.

76. This will get shot down in SCOTUS (if it makes it that far).
A doctor's personal ethics does not trump anybody's personal medical decisions. Also, this bill is in clear violation of the Hippocratic Oath-- 'First, do no harm'. For a woman facing an unwanted, unplanned pregnancy, being forced to carry to term can definitely be considered as harming her.

And to become active in our state.

It sucks. And this is only the beginning.

November was bittersweet for Arizona. While the rest of the country was celebrating, we were in mourning, and that was before Obama took Janet.

We have ALOT of work in front of us, we can't remain quiet.
