1. I'm thinking...maybe the Civil Rights Act by LBJ after JFK was shot?

2. The Civil Rights Act was passed July 1964
FDR got the Emergency Conversation Work Act (begining of the CCC) passed in March 1933, his first month in office.

3. FDR...that figures. I didn't remember that LBJ took that long. Thanks. Even so,
what a remarkable accomplishment for someone who supposedly didn't really know his way around Washington...Obama, I mean.

5. Kennedy sponsored the legislation summer of 1963.
Considering what a monumental change it proposed, it moved quickly. 40 plus years later, we tend to forget how deeply entrenched segregation was in this country.

I agree; he's a remarkable man.
