He either makes the decisions or he doesn't. Can't have it both ways.

Seriously...the bullshit of the past 8 years, where the head of the administration wasn't willing to take the blame is done with. You are either responsible for the major decisions in your administration or you aren't.

Gregg's specific case, I would argue, doesn't specifically give cause to blame President Obama, because this seems to be a simple case of having second thoughts.

However, please be aware that when you blame the Chief of Staff for this situation, you are either also blaming Obama or you are implying he is a moron.

2. I agree to a certain point, Obama deserves some blame but since he is soo busy, he needs to

rely on people like Emanuel to be giving him good advice. I highly doubt Obama has enough time to go through the details and pros/cons of each person. It is Emanuel's job to lay those out to Obama including his advice. If Emanuel is not doing a good job at that, then he does deserve blame.

3. Given Gregg's reasons for withdrawing...
it looks like we dodged a bullet.

Is the Rahm-rage from the pick itself, or the arm-twisting for Gregg to withdraw?

7. What, they can't share the blame? I'm not blaming anyone - but the defensiveness here is really odd.
As of right now I am agnostic on the issue, thinking it probably has more to do with Gregg's own whims than anything else, but I find the knee jerk reactions here to be pretty astounding. I posted an article to clarify a different thread and people started attacking it without reading the full post thinking I was taking Politico's word at face value.

Of course we shouldn't immediately blame Rahm, or Obama, or anyone else. But when there is reason to believe that they've made a mistake, we shouldn't rush to rationalize it either.
