I think the Republicans see themselves in a "window of opportunity" re: Obama.
They see themselves in a race against time, before Obama can establish a lasting bond of trust and affection with the American people.

If they can sully his name, define him, hang Bush's shitty economy around his neck, then maybe they can start to grab some seats back.

They're probably not completely stupid. They're keeping an eye on the direction of the winds. If Obama establishes that bond, as I think he is doing, you may seem them suddenly back way the fuck off the obstructionist bullshit.

Of course they tried defining him with shitty smears during the election, and that didn't work out so well for them.

3. I think that window of opportunity shut on their fingers already
It just takes a long time for the message to travel up to their dinosaur minds.

They'll be yelling ouch in a week or so.

4. They missed their window when they were running "Grampy'
and the "Helicopter wolf hunter"!!

I am going to watch with glee as they continue to self destruct. Their idiocy has no bounds, they just make up shit now because they are desperate.

Limpballs, Hannity and the rest of the repug scum are quickly approaching the line of no return. They are subtly inciting violence against Liberal, Women, Gays and minorities....when they do....
oh dear....if they think that 80% of America is like Reid and Pelosi they are sadly mistaken.....just sayin..

5. Someone tried to climb in our window of opportunity when we were kids...
The fucker was climbing through the window of a house occupied by a divorcee and 3 kids. My mother shut that window, but had a difficult time because the guys fingers were in it. She also shut down peeping toms who would look into our windows at night by running to the window, yelling and scaring the shit out of them. I'm guessing President Obama is even more savvy than my mom. The 'pubs are FUCKED.

7. I concur with the other replies so far, the window is slammed shut
and the GOP fingers are all bent and swollen Tom and Jerry style.

Obamas approval ratings remain stupidly high, and approval for the stimulus is rising to 60%. Let them continue to obstruct.

8. I think they believe that Obama has handed them an opportunity
Obama said he was looking for bipartisan agreement and they figure that any failure in this regard will be blamed on Obama and not on them. So, bankrupt of ideas as they are, all they have to do to score a victory against Obama is...nothing. That's right, nothing at all. Just say "No". You can already see that the media is starting to characterize this as Obama's failure instead of what it is, the Republicans failure to seize an opportunity to DO something, to help clean up their own mess. Instead they have decided to act as though they had nothing to do with the debacle of the last eight years. They are trying to force Obama to meet their terms in order to fulfill his goals. We will see. The media has a lot to do with whether this plan will have impact so I think we ought to have loads of Democrats out there showing bipartisan openness but keeping the record straight. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz did a great job during the campaign and I think she is a very effective spokesperson.
