...today was the birthday of Charles Darwin, and how important science is. When's the last time we've had a president stress Charles Darwin? Awesome.

President talking about Darwin? I figured not in my lifetime.

I'm gonna have to go find a replay, and thanks for the heads up. I've had a shitty day, and just knowing that Obama name-dropped Darwin makes it all better :)

6. I grew up in Texas
In a good school district, so the default for evolution for science teachers was "just don't mention it one way or the other." Nevada was the same way when I moved (though they teach evolution in Nevada these days, at least).

8. Darwin was also outspoken against slavery after his return voyage on Beagle...
He was against using science to prop up such an unnatural,evil enterprise.
