Well I have learned my lesson...Winning an election is more important than doing what is right
And the Republican party as it stands, ( not even sure what it stands for now) is not going to do anything to help this country.

They are so tied up with hate for Democrats, the Democratic party, that they will sit on their hands and/or purposely do things that will destroy Obama, and the country.

There are those on all sides that would rather do a 180 on their stated belief systems rather than work with their former opposition to better the country

We have continually reached out to the other side, considered their feelings, but not one ounce of cooperation. Instead a kick in the teeth for the effort.

I was listening this AM to TV, and a point Senator Durbin made about my Senator Grassley, who added an amendment of 70 billion to the stimulus in spending and then turned around and is not going to vote for it because it costs too much.

You know what, I am getting a little worn out myself. Time to just leave the opposition in the dust.

They have no interest in doing what is best for the country. It is all about them 24/7. That works for 3 year olds, but that is about it.

You can only keep throwing sand in a person face every time they reach their hand out, before long, they are just going to be standing their by themselves wailing at an empty universe. The rest of us will have moved on.

We tried

1. You're not alone. They are being exposed to all of America for what they are...
And it's just as it should be.

Instead of drawing a line in the sand and using confrontation as a point of departure, our president has done the adult thing by offering them a chance to participate in this effort.

Having been given the opportunity, they look all the more dangerous for rejecting solutions.

They're being exposed.

It is brilliant.

3. Well no one will ever be able to say we did not give 200%
And it probably is brilliant.

It is hard to move me off the "reaching out" to the other side stand, but I am off that stand now.

We have done everything we could.

2. I wish there were another election looming so we could beat the GOP into a bloody pulp again.
Maybe the third time would be the charm for those fucking America-haters to come to their senses.

I am furious. Words can't even express ... :grr:

4. I am beyond furious, and just exhausted.
I feel like that mother of 8 on tv who has them running around her legs as she is trying to fix dinner, and they are all screaming at the top of their lungs. That is where I am now.. Lets just put them to bed for a nap.

We need to win the next election also!

5. yup! enjoyin the ride on the sinking ship!
but i hate to tell em... them and their party are the only things that are gonna drown.

i say let 'em...

sure, its hurting all of us worse..but people tend to bite the hand that hurts them...
so go on ya morans, keep it up ... we'll take all the seats in the houses we can get.

yay for republicans making themselves irrelevant!

i swear, this is starting to work out perfectly..

first with picking an idiot like sarah palin for VP and now standing in the way of not only the democrats, but the american people, when it comes to trying to solve some of the problems THEY CREATED!
this is classic.

im starting to wonder if they WANT their party to collapse.

8. I think the point about Grassley is the major headline of the whole exercise

The Senate is built on understanding cooperation and compromise. Grassley's sophmoric move is going to cost him. He isn't going to get a single piece of legislation considered from now on. He won't even get his phone calls returned.

There are now three Republican Senators who can get alot of interest in their pet projects, and 35 that can just go sit in the corner quietly until the next election, which will give them another 2 years of sitting in the corner.

The funny thing is that Senate Republicans have long looked down their noses at House Republicans and now they have fallen into their trap. They lose one more net Senator and they will lose all of their influence for a very long time.

9. I hope not-
you are one of those who understands the big picture.
It's hard not to lose heart in times like these. But don't give up. If you do, then 'they' (or the thinking you are fighting against) win. It is always the right time to do the right thing.

It's completely understandable to get discouraged. But don't forget that those who spit in the face of reconciliation and unity are exposing themselves for what they really are. And the way we respond, and continue to respond reveals to everyone- (especially ourselves) who we really are.

Hatred cannot drive out hatred. Change, real positive change a.k.a. progress and growth- is often messy, painful and takes alot out of us. But it's worth it.

Hang in there Peacetrain- we're headed in the right direction, no matter how it may appear.

10. Thanks Bluerthanblue
I needed that pep talk. I am just so discouraged with the lack of concern for the well being of the country by the other side. They really do have Rush as their "fearful leader"!
