3. As much as it pains me to have to say this...
thanks to Arlen Specter for not jumping ship and going back over to the puke side on this vote. I wasn't worried about Snowe or Collins, but Specter had me worried.

4. Specter is in a state that went solidly blue in 2008...
If he doesn't represent his constituents, he will find himself getting voted out in 2010. Hell, he might still lose even though he's trying to work with the President.

it's all politics, and it always boils down to what's in their best interest to do whatever it takes to keep their seat. The very scenario you describe, should cost lieberliar his seat in 2012 if his constituents have a long enough memory.

It has to be hard to leave his mother's wake, but he understands that the stimulus bill won't get passed without him.
