Obama plans concert for Stevie Wonder
President will present Wonder with a Library of Congress award
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29189065/

The White House is planning a concert next week to honor Stevie Wonder, whose music provided part of President Barack Obama’s campaign soundtrack.

The White House says the president and first lady Michelle Obama will present Wonder a Library of Congress award on Wednesday. The concert will be broadcast the next day on PBS as part of its “Performance at the White House” series.

The award-winning and chart-topping Wonder performed at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on the night Obama accepted his party’s nomination. He also performed at a concert during the week of Obama’s inauguration.

His song “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” became a theme song during the campaign. Obama also used “Higher Ground” during campaign stops.

With the Obamas in the WH, I think the music tributes will be worth watching this time around. :)

5. Well, here's a slippery slope!
All respect to Stevie, but there needs to be some love shown to Stax Records, McLemore Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, no? Otis and Sam & Dave and Isaac Hayes and Rufus Thomas and Albert King and Booker T & The MGs (not forgetting of course The Memphis Horns) and Wilson By-God PICKETT. Are they merely pigs feet in the chitlin circuit of life?

Please feel free to add your own nominations to the Endless List Of Black Musicians Who Need Library Of Congress Awards--or who would rather have the cash.
