12. Not so much for America, though. Too many half-measures when the times
call for drastic, drastic action.

9. Woo hoo! So proud of our Dem Senators!
For sticking together and being willing to put our nation before, in some cases, both health and personal tragedy.

Hopefully the American public now realizes who is *really* looking out for them.

16. Not quite sure what you mean by this post
but, your several concern threads about this vote were definitely noticed.

18. Not sure what you mean by your post.
Forgive me for being concerned that the 60th vote was hundreds of miles away in Ohio.

And, FYI, Ted Kennedy went to Washington to secure the cloture vote, despite his failing health. Sherrod Brown left his family during a time of tragedy to vote for the best interests of this country.

Meanwhile, on the Republican side, Cornyn was too busy kissing Limbaugh's ass to even show up for the the cloture vote.

I think that says quite a bit about Dem priorities vs. puke priorities.

I wasn't sure if you were happy with the end-result or not. Sounds like you were.

Again, apologies.

28. .
It's all good.

And sorry I was so worried about the outcome of the vote. I felt like it was an "I got this" moment, but needing the 3 Republicans to hold AND a guy to fly from Ohio to DC admittedly made me pretty nervous. It doesn't help when Reid is going to media saying he needs more votes. :eyes: I spent the day looking for assurance that Specter and Collins were still on board (I felt good about Snowe), but I couldn't find it. It would have been a tremendous blow to Obama and our country had the stimulus not passed.

So...whew!

10. enjoy that $13 bucks you get to keep per week..wow, now that is change! lol
chump change.
woo hoo..Can't even buy two starbucks for what i am getting to keep..and surely won't buy two boxes of cereal.Like i said..woo hoo!!

The $500-per-worker credit for lower- and middle-income taxpayers that Obama outlined during his presidential campaign was scaled back to $400 during bargaining by the Democratic-controlled Congress and White House. Couples would receive $800 instead of $1,000. Over two years, that move would pump about $25 billion less into the economy than had been previously planned.

Officials estimated it would mean about $13 a week more in people's paychecks this year when withholding tables are adjusted in late spring. Next year, the measure could yield workers about

$8 a week.
Critics say that's unlikely to do much to boost consumption.

"The most highly touted tax cut in the original proposal now translates into $7.70 a week for middle-class workers," said Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 11:36 AM by flyarm
it was his!!

And all those folks who thought they were going to get a check..to boost the economy, I had no illusions, I knew it was all hopey/changey crap..,,it is Obamabots that did!

And those out of work who thought they would get a cash infusion, will get nothing!!
But then again , in a bill almost 1 trillion $13 bucks ought to be an insult to every American..and that i son the high side, next year it will be 8 bucks!

Enjoy your peanuts!!

You will be paying off the steak for the big boys!

and so will your kids! and your kids , kids!

oh and PS, Pelosi's SF rats got more than you ever will..30 million more!
