The GOP's collective 'no' vote opened them up to midterm attack ads like you wouldn't believe |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 02:40 AM by Unsane
2010 may be too soon to gauge whether the stimulus has worked or not, so I'm not all that sure how the GOP's collective 'no' helps them in the midterms. Regardless, Dems can paint them as obstructionists who voted against job creation, tax cuts, and unemployment benefits.
*insidious voice*
"Did you know (insert GOP incumbent/challenger) voted AGAINST creating thousands of new jobs for (insert district)? Voted AGAINST bringing money into (insert district) for roads, bridges, and infrastructure? Voted AGAINST tax cuts for the middle class?"

4. Hope Rahm, Van Hollen & Co. are smart enough to pick up on this. |
|
That should be the meme for '10: Republicans voted AGAINST billions of dollars in tax cuts for the middle class.

2. I don't really think we have too much of a chance to pick up House Seats... |
|
The one's left are the reddest of the red districts. what we should be looking to do in 2010 is to capture the reapportionment process and write the hardliners out of the House.
Concentrate on the Senate in 2010...

3. Yep....it's the Senate where we need the seats, |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 02:35 AM by FrenchieCat
and that is exactly what we are positioned for.
Folks got a chance to witness that unless there is a super majority, we are still too vunerable to the GOP's petty ass whines!

5. 50-State strategy (the idea doesn't need to die without Dean) . . . |
|
And we're in pretty good shape with statehouses and governors, who have the greatest impact on reapportionment. And, as a former Californian, I'm really looking forward to Meg Whitman vs anyone for governor. As you'll recall, she was muzzled by the McCain-Palin for foot-in-mouth disease.

9. That is why we need to focus on the redistricting process |
|
which iscontrolled by the states and will impact the 2012 congressional elections.
For instance, Ohio is going to lose a seat. Wouldn't it be great if we could redraw Boehner right out of the house...

10. It's a tough call . . . I wouldn't want to displace a clodpole . . . |
|
With a different 'Lican who can count his change and get the same answer twice. If the new districting makes a state more 'Lican-hostile, that would be fine with me. For two reasons, actually: 1) to reduce the number of 'Licans generally and 2) to stiffen the spines of dems and dinos in "purple" districts.
I'm also a former Texan, and so I'd like to see Delay's work substantially undone there as well. Not happening soon, according to my contacts in the state, because the money and the jebusophiles are still firmly in control.
