Obama plans concert to honor Stevie Wonder

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is planning a concert this month to honor Stevie Wonder, whose music provided part of President Barack Obama’s campaign soundtrack.

The White House says the president and first lady Michelle Obama will present Wonder a Library of Congress award on Feb. 25. The concert will be broadcast the next day on PBS as part of its “Performance at the White House” series.

Wonder, 58, a native of Saginaw, Mich., grew up in Detroit and signed with Motown Records when he was 13. He performed at the 2008 Democratic National Convention on the night Obama accepted his party’s nomination. He also performed at a concert during the week of Obama’s inauguration.

Wonder’s song “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” became a theme song during the campaign.

1. I'm quite sure
Obama won't wave to him, like the Moron-in-Chief did.

3. Only 58?!
Wow. He still has plenty of good years left ahead of him. Simply incredible how much he's accomplished.

5. I Was Made to Love Her
worship and adore her--yeah, yeah, yeah!!!!!

Stevland started taking piano lessons at 5, had it mastered at 7, was a master of harmonica (who remembers Fingertips Prt 2--his first hit?), bongos, drums, and several different synthesizers. He has produced records and written hits for other artists, like "Tears of a Clown" for Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.

6. I have been so happy seeing Stevie play for Obama
I met this great man when I was a teenager. Stevie asked me to write to Congress to help get Dr King's Birthday made into a holiday. Because of that, I became aware of Arizona's John McCain, who opposed that holiday. So. Seeing McCain defeated and Stevie singing the day before the holiday, the day before the new President...it especially sweet. Stevie was actually the first non family member ever to 'organize' me, or ask me to speak out for an issue or cause. It took.

I've met a lot of famous people snce then. No one is as impressive as Stevie. He was so kind to me. His Mother was also sweet, and both of them so humble it was hard to understand how that could be, considering Stevie's talent and wealth and fame.
