Republican Opposition To Stimulus - Did They Even Bother To Update Their Talking Points From 1993?
Edited on Mon Feb-16-09 09:57 PM by Median Democrat
Listen closely to the GOP opposition to the stimulus bill, the cries of government waste, and prediction of failure, and you may experience a sense of deja vu. Sounds familiar? Its 1993 all over again with Republicans predicting doom and gloom following the passage of a stimulus bill to drag the country out of recession following the presidency of Bush, the elder.

In 2009, we are recovering from an even worse recession by Bush the junior, yet the talking points, and partisanship remain exactly the same. Heck, the RW mainstream media is even celebrating Eric Cantor as the second coming of Newt Gingrich, which should be a bad thing, but apparently its not in the eyes of the corporate media.

I only wish the media would be somewhat original. We know they are going to lie to us, but at least don't insult my intelligence by repeating the exact same talking points used in reference to Clinton's 1993 stimulus bill.

1. It definitely has been a one way street. That party has never
played by the same rules.

3. It Would Be Great If A Cable News Was Not So Corrupt And Actually Asked A Question
About what is different about Republicans opposing Obama and Republicans opposing Clinton's stimulus, and predicting that the stimulus plan would prolong the recession. They were wrong then, what makes them right now?

It is similar to cable news allowing Republicans to spout of the lie that Ireland is economically strong because it has low corporate taxes. The truth is that Ireland is headed towards double digit unemployment faster than the U.S.

The right wing mainstream media is a bigger impediment to progressive reform then the Republicans, because they give the Republicans a free pass and a platform.

2. LOL, they are still back in the days of FDR!
Updating to 1993 might occur in 2060.
