Shock Poll: Andrew Cuomo Crushing Paterson in NY Dem Primary
Edited on Tue Feb-17-09 12:33 PM by SuperTrouper
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- The latest poll shows Democratic Gov. David Paterson is still faltering and now trails Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani in potential matchups for the 2010 governor's race.

The Quinnipiac University poll says Paterson trails fellow Democrat Cuomo 55 percent to 23 percent. The poll also shows Paterson ties Giuliani, the former Republican mayor of New York City, at 43 percent.

2. If there's going to be a primary, Tom Suozzi is the best choice
Looking back, it's really a shame he didn't beat Spitzer. Suozzi has a track record of succesfully leading government. I hope he gets another chance.

3. I don't dislike Paterson but I do feel he has been pretty weak as NY governor.
He would be better off not even running.

6. Down with Paterson.
I figure Cuomo is gonna popular since his dad was a hero around my way. I know in my house my dad and mum was rooting for Mario as the next president.

7. Cuomo's racists remarks about Obama aside, I'm glad somebody is kicking Paterson's ass.
His handling of the Senate seat appointment was a disaster.

39. What did he say that was racist about Obama? Didn't hear about this...
I can't stand Cuomo. He was our HUD Secretary under Clinton's second term and is an asshole of massive proportions. He didn't get along with many people. He was mean, surly and never said hello to any of his HUD employees. Not a very personable man. His father was much nicer.

40. Link:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/10/hillary-supporter-cuomo-_n_80914.html

"It's not a TV crazed race. Frankly you can't buy your way into it," Cuomo said, according to Albany Times Union reporter Rick Karlin. "You can't shuck and jive at a press conference," he added. "All those moves you can make with the press don't work when you're in someone's living room."

The phrase "shuck and jive" refers to mischievous blacks behaving innocently in the presence of an authority figure, so as to lie and get out of trouble.

'Cause I don't know what it is but I'm just not feeling Gillibrand.

I've changed my mind about politicians before after my first viseral dislike but she'll have to earn my respect.

Never did find an address for Caroline but I hope she's doin' okay after that media steamroll.

It's farther down in the poll findings. I couldn't be more delighted. As for Caroline, I sent a card via Gov. Bloomberg's
office.

And add "Via her good friend Gov. Bloomberg" underneath. An aide in his office suggested I do that. ;)

Obama was on fire when he declared (paraphrasing),"We've done more for healthcare in the past 30 days
than in the past 10 years!"

Yeah, we've come a long way. Ain't it grand? :woohoo:

29. I looked at both links, and I didn't see any job-approval (or anything like that)
Numbers for Gillibrand.

The only data I saw was a disapproval of how Patterson handled the appointment.

38. I am referring to the specifics of the Quinnipiac poll itself, not the news stories.
Edited on Thu Feb-19-09 09:23 AM by ClarkUSA
The new Quinnipiac poll finds both "Two Guns" Gillibrand and the man who appointed her trail Democratic primary challengers in 2010. AG "Shuck And Jive" Cuomo crushes Paterson, 55% to 23%, in a possible gubernatorial primary. Meanwhile, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy beats "Two Guns" Gillibrand in a Democratic primary, 34% to 24%, with 39% still undecided.

Explains pollster Maurice Carroll: "The Caroline Kennedy mix-up still haunts Gov. David Paterson... Three quarters of New Yorkers
heard about the nasty news leaks. They think Kennedy was treated unfairly..."

12. Why is this a shock?
Edited on Tue Feb-17-09 02:07 PM by Thrill
Paterson hasn't shown anything that would make people think he would be a good Governor. My guess is if he is going to win a primary he is going to need all the people in Congress who he pissed off to endorse him. And help from Obama and Clinton

20. Paterson
His handing of the senate seat was a joke.He ailenated a lot.Never had a poential Senate appointee had to prove they should be.Plus
His choice for senate may very well Lose the primary. If andrew Cuomo runs against him Paterson Is done. The fact IF saint Rudy runs
and he ties Paterson Is a big warning sign. And this Isn't 2002,or 2004 so the public Isn't as gogo over Saint Rudy anymore.

for the Kennedy revenge against the hapless Governor Paterson for humiliating Caroline.

30. I don't exactly weep for Caroline. I think that Cuomo's primary motivation
will be for the advancement of Andrew Cuomo. It's true the Kennedy's may benefit tangentially from the standpoint of Paterson going down, but that is hardly the central drama here.

that Paterson slapped him in the face in the Senate Sweepstakes by leaking "I am considering Cuomo" and then coming up with Gilli.
