The best way to get rid of Rush Limbo
Is to start boycotting the advertisers that run during his show. This will put a stop to his madness. With the economy being what it is today the advertisers will take notice and run outside his show which will cause the stations to cancel Rush's show.

We have been called community organizers therefore I say let's show him who's in charge.

1. Dude, we've been boycotting his damn advertisers for years
Doesn't do one whit of difference.

My suggestion? Hire a tabloid photographer and have him followed for a month.

I'd put up the first $100 to do it.

4. It's going to take more than 1 person to get this done
I worked in broadcast media for over twenty years selling shows like Rush and trust me if we all get together this can be done. I had clients that would not run commerical anywhere near Rush nor Dr. Lara's show because of the Bullshit... Rememeber you are known by the company you keep. This will work

17. That's a great idea!

Have a tabloid reporter follow him to the Dominican Republic, when he takes one of those weekends!Do you suppose he carries the Viagra on him after his last episode,or does he send it ahead via FedEx?
(You know he wouldn't send it via UPS which is union)

2. Well, unless you tell me Safeway, Costco, or Target
advertise with him, there's not likely much of anything I can boycott....I'm down to spending NADA on non-essentials and most food I eat is home prepared from fresh or frozen veggies, fruit, some lean mean & eggs. I so rarely eat out, that fast food, chain, or other restaurants are not even an issue.

But, if someone has a list of his advertisers, I'd be happy to make sure.

5. Um, stop talking about him?
And I'm violating my own "dont kick up the Rush threads" but I REALLY hate that we give him ANY attention here. That's all he wants. Pardon my crudeness but his enemies (us) are constantly cyber-jerking him .... he must love it.

6. This is corporate propaganda; they couldn't care less.
That's one reason progressive radio is having such a tough time.

12. boycott LOCALLY- 600 paul reveres in reverse
never heard of a concerted effort on local levels- he's got 600 stations and most of those communities ignore the anti democracy shit that those stations spew. nationally they just hire more PR. locally speaking the businesses will be more sensitive to criticism that they're sponsoring a guy that has been wrong about everything important (bush, iraq, the economy) and is actively pushing global warming denial either out of stupidity or as a petro industry shill.

regular boycotting and picketing of limbaugh stations will draw attention to them and the fact that they are actively pushing for obama/america to fail at this very important time in history.

LOCAL boycotts will be more effective

13. Don't be silly. Just DO NOT LISTEN!!!!
Hannity and Rush and Beck and Ingraham are children. They say ridiculous things to get you to pay attention. Their simpleton audiences are like the other kids in the classroom egging them on. Don't pay any attention.

We have a country to save. Quit wasting time and energy on the spoiled brats- they love it when you give them attention. Turn your backs and 'get to work on the tasks at hand- governing a nation.

if you assume both that stations whose owners who have little accountability care; and

advetisers care about your whinging.

Sorry to be mean- but they don't in this context.

You pretty much suck- that's how they think.

18. I'll say it again: Break up the media oligopoly!
One thing that's promising: Clear Channel is on the ropes, thanks to the Bush Depression.

That will help in the goal: Tear most of the TV stations away from the big conglomerates.

Notice how in any given area, you can tune into three or four, sometimes more stations with the same Rush Limbaugh show on every day?

Do you really think that in a fair and competitive environment where monopolies were shut down, that four radio stations could air the same show at the same time, splitting the listeners, and stay in business?

That can happen because Clear Channel and similar corporations own most of the radio dial. Force them to sell, move some of the stations into the hands of smaller businesses, and all of the sudden, you'll find that everyone will be forced to make sure that their stations earn their keep.

They won't be able to force progressive radio stations off the air in favor of conservative stations with a fraction of the listeners. The conservative stations that are on the air, but in different hands rather than all owned by Clear Channel, will eat each other, because in a fair market, economic forces will dictate that there be one station airing Rush Limbaugh, rather than six - easier to get lots of listeners that way. There will be room for more voices on the air.

So yeah, I'd say the first step is for the FCC to tighten down the media ownership caps and force the media conglomerates to sell their TV stations, cable channels, radio stations and newspapers, and not to each other.
