Transparency: Agencies receiving stimulus funding will be monitored like students in detention
Government officials, meet The Principal!
The crushworthy Dr. Orszag, who is Obama's Director of the Office of Management and Budget, sent this 60 page memo to everybody dealing with stimulus funds.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/assets/memoranda_fy2009/m09-10.pdf

If your agency is receiving stimulus money, you are required to complete detailed weekly spending reports and webpage updates.
The weekly report information, which is supposed to track every single dollar of spending, will be used to continually update recovery.gov.
How did I find this memo?
Reading the whitehouse blog, naturally!

http://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing_room/

Among other bad-ass things, Orszag's memo instructs agencies to update their Recovery Act websites using plain, easy-to-understand language and make files easy to download.

They are also supposed to include clear instructions for how to apply for grants and contracts that are funded through the Recovery Act.

2. Anyone who spends recovery $$ on donuts is required to write out the memo by hand 100 times.
I kid! But that memo is no joke, it is the first memo installment in what will be an amazing demonstration of parenting by memo.

3. I have no problems with it. I think the Obama admin is on a learning
curve. After Geithner's poor performance, being unprepared, they seem very prepared now.

5. This makes me think of Horses and Barn Doors and such
Wall Street got gazillions more in 'stimulus' - and the CONgress didn't require accountability or transparency!

6. we hired a new team since then... and I'm pretty excited about how seriously they're
taking their jobs!
The ARRA funds are also going TO govt so they can be closely monitored.
