S.C. gov takes stim cash
By ALEXANDER BURNS

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, a vocal conservative opponent of the stimulus package who suggested he might decline billions in aid to his state, said Thursday he would reverse course and accept federal stimulus money.

“Being against it doesn’t preclude taking the money,” Sanford said on CBS. “I think there are a number of wrinkles that have caused a number of us to say ‘Wait a minute, let’s take a long look at whether or not this really makes sense for our state.’”

Republican governors were divided over the stimulus, with Sanford leading up a right flank of opposition to the proposal and Charlie Crist anchoring a more moderate group of pro-stimulus state executives, Politico reported Thursday.

For the good of his people, I'm glad he took it but MAN! The hypocrisy of partisan posturing will get you every time! lol

4. This is how Republicans stand on principle.
They have nothing to stand on.

5. Like the little old lady with the winning lottery ticket
Her kids bought her a Lotto ticket that was a $5 mill winner. She said she was a good Baptist woman and gambling was a sin. She didn't hesitate to cash that sucker in though. Amazing how high standards disappear when large amounts of money are involved.

7. If he had decided not to take it. then he would have to explain to his voters why they should suffer
Why should they not get the unemployment benefits, the pell grant money, the money for health insurance? I wonder how that would go over!

11. He's not up for re-election, though
There are no personal consequences for him, and he's a libertarian, so "for the good of his successor" would be an alien concept to him. I think it's more likely he was forced to take the money by the state legislature and is trying to put a brave face on it. Sanford has been at war with the legislature (including the Republicans) virtually since he took office.

Sure it doesn't...if you're a hypocrite, which we all knew you were anyway.

10. It should.
Being against something means you don't take part in it. Don't believe in abortion? Don't have one. Don't believe in the Stimulus package? Don't take the money.

Hypocrits.

What a complete Moran. No guts to even stand up for his so called "principles." Well, it proves my theory about most Rethugs...they have never seen a dollar bill they don't like.
