As a Canadian, I am proud we are hosting President Obama and are out in force to welcome him! A note of interest, normally it is not the Royal Canadian Mounted Police you would see in the pics, it would be a military contingent. I LOVE the fact it is the RCMP for President Obama's visit this time!

Edited to add: Notice the difference in the smiles on harper's face versus President Obama's:

Geez, Stevie, take that broomstick out of your ass once in a while.

The folks toting around the life-size images are cracking me up!!!!

And the little girl....how adorable and inspiring! I hope her parents see this online and get a copy for her!

Oh what a difference an election makes. Brings tears to my eyes, considering what the tone of the reception was for our last President.

Thanks, Canada, our neighbors to the North!!!

43. Beautiful photos, thanks Jackeens. I saw some of the footage on
CBC this morning and it was so compelling to watch, I ended up being late for work. I love our Reporters and Newscasters and the interviews with some of the supporters were awesome.

Seems as though someone traveled all the way from Vancouver Island to Ottawa to get a glimpse of President Obama. The crowd would have been bigger but due to weather conditions, a lot of people from Quebec were not able to make it.

Canadians love President Obama and we are thrilled he chose to visit Canada first, says a lot about his character.

Edited on Fri Feb-20-09 06:40 AM by OneBlueSky
when he visits other nations? . . . can you even imagine people wearing Bush t-shirts and carrying Bush posters on one of his visits? . . . unless they were effigies, that is . . .

I've said it before and I'll say it again . . . just by virtue of his being elected, Obama has done more to advance good relations between the U.S. and other nations than Republicans did in their 20 most recent years of reactionary rule by the chimp, his father, and that third-rate actor with the pompadour . . .

Canadians caught Obama fever well before the election. Many of us were practically drooling at the prospect of an Obama presidency.

And now we have the two best-looking heads of state in the entire world.
