Eventually, Obama will probably do what he has always done on race-related issues:
Say he wasn't personally offended by the cartoon, acknowledge that he understands why many people were offended, plead the case for greater sensitivity, and essentially discuss the need to move on to more pressing issues.

Our President has as thick a skin as anybody.

7. I doubt he will weigh in on this one
but if he did, I suggest he might acknowledge that the cartoon is indeed offensive, but give the cartoonist some cover by saying he "doesn't assume" the intent was to be racist.
