Shocking - GOP call Obama's first month "disappointing"

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/

<snip>

Republicans have been unimpressed. In an e-mail blasted out (twice) to reporters this morning, they stress this has been a “disappointing month,” one “marked by wasteful spending, failed bipartisanship, and questionable ethics.”

2. I think the nation would be better served if they looked at their horrible first month
rather than taking pot shots at the man that is making an honest (and what I believe will eventually prove to be an effective) effort.

3. Unsurprising...
Of course, President Obama and our Democratic congress were left with a lot of shit to clean up after 8 years of unrepentant Republican binging.

10. Obama is kicking ass
The facts (from my Dad a retired prof and republican too)

It turned out to be very difficult to get the dates of passage of what
could be called the first significant legislation of administration. I do not have
"Facts on File" or anything equivalent. So it was a matter of finding a phase here,
an allusion there, and a date usually from the World Almanac.

Anyway, here are three examples for you.

Carter. The Conference Report on the National Energy Act of 1978 was
adopted on October 16,1978. Remember Carter was sworn in on Jan 20, l977, so
the elapsed was a year and nine months.

Reagan. The Economic Recovery Act was passed on July 29, 1981.

Clinton. The Conference Report on major appropriations was adopted on August 6.

All of these passed by very narrow margins on their way to final passage.

Obama. As you know, the Stimulus Package was passed February 17, 2009.

12. Huh?
Questionable ethics? The President is a saint compared to any Republican.

Failed bipartisanship? We won and THEY refused to compromise or work within the parameters set by the President, the Speaker or the Senate Majority Leader. Who failed again?

Losers are always disappointed.

14. Mr. President, please stop trying to play ball with these ingrates
they don't appeciate it and all they do is blast you. Yes, keep an open dialog with people like Spector, Collins, and Snowe--but lets face it they are the only rationale people left in that party. You have done your best to reach out just to see your hand bit one too many times. Wasteful spending they say? Nothing like we saw during the Bush years. failed bipartisanship? You tried and they withstood you over and over. Questionable ethics? Are they talking about the Bush/Cheney years?

15. Like we give a shit about the nutty 28% of the population that loved Bush.
Edited on Fri Feb-20-09 10:56 AM by DevonRex
Yeah, it's pretty unsurprising, huh? They really are like a broken record. Funny how they keep trying to play it when it's just time to change the record completely.

17. If he had done EXACTLY what Bush did they would see it as "dissappointing."
Fuck them. They have no idea when to stop being partisan and when to accept some blame and accountability.

The party of "no" indeed.

19. Fundraising
They have to keep the goons and fundies happy so that they can get cash to keep alive. The only thing Bush did in the first month was hide, take vacations, let Cheney run the government, etc.....oh, sorry, that's what Bush did for 8 years.
