Rick Santelli is a fucking clown (Rant)
Rick Santelli more or less told me everything that I needed to know when he said that he thought that a bunch of traders on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were a "good representation of America". My favorite part was how one of them screamed "moral hazard" "moral hazard" when Santelli talked about how the money would go to bailing out people who bought more house than they could afford.

Now I'm an economics major and I know full well what a moral hazard is and why it is a problem. But because I don't have my head completely up my ass like these people, I also know that it's a lame excuse not to act. GOD FORBID a dime of their hard earned dollars goes to a person who bought more house than they could afford. Just because we shouldn't reward bad behavior we definitely need to simultaneously punish those who lost their jobs, saw the value of their house decline below the value of their mortgage, fell into debt because of medical bills. Furthermore it's definitely great for the economy when banks are sitting on a bunch of foreclosed homes that they can't sell because nobody can afford to buy them.

These people just absolutely have no perspective. A few undeserving people getting a government handout or government bailout is a problem but a minor one compared to the other garbage we waste taxpayer money on. The Iraq War has been a costlier to the taxpayers thus far than this entire stimulus bill and unlike the stimulus bill, the war was based on the fraud. Yet this clown Santelli voted for 100 more years McCain so that we could spend trillions and trillions more on an investment that will yield zero return. Rewarding the neocons with more taxpayer money to keep fighting wars based on a fraud is an exponentially more costly moral hazard than helping people stay in their houses. But again these people have their heads so far up their asses that they don't get that.

1. Fatcat overpaid republicon propagandists got no understanding of America
Rush 'DraftDodger' Limbaugh is the most glaring example. Santelli fits the mold. They have no contact with reality, and just keep spewing the propaganda they are paid to spew...

2. I'm really starting to think that all RWers are just plain SELFISH ...
Edited on Fri Feb-20-09 05:41 PM by LSparkle
They have no concept of "we" (as in "We're all in this together," as
Obama often proclaimed on the campaign trail), only "what's in it for
me?" They'd rather punish our society as a whole than to allow some
people to get a bit of help when they need it (even though others may
not get that aid). He and those of his ilk ought to thank their lucky
stars that they're NOT in the position of being kicked out of their
homes, instead of being "jealous" of those who might end up being
helped by the stimulus bill.

In a way, it's a good thing to see people like Santelli ranting because
it strips bare all pretense of "compassionate conservatism." The Rethugs
are being exposed as greed-inspired ... THUGS.

3. Santelli is a gift for Obama

He is a poster boy for exactly how the White House political team wants to paint opponents of the stimulus. I really hope more angry derivative traders like him start opening their mouths.

6. Not to be a master of the obvious but...
there are plenty of undeserving bankers, insurance co. execs (read AIG) and Wall Street types who will prosper and even get rich off these bailouts while this tone-deaf moran screams over my cable.

I love him. I think he should be on all day. Right now he's the gift that keeps on giving and he can't shut up.

I won't even justify his remarks by disputing them. He's outsmarted himself this time.

All the surrogates should be lined up to whack this guy like a pinata.

7. Oh I'm sure the White House loves this guy
Because Gibbs clearly had a planned slap in the face with props and all. I'm sure he an Axelrod spent some time scripting this one ouot.

I just wish that Gibbs had gotten a question about Michael Steele's plans to create the new hip-hop Republican Party. I'm sure they had a great answer for that one too.

9. Chris Matthews told him he was in the same league with Rush and Hannity
because the White House responsed to his rant. You should have seen the look on his face! He didn't take it as a compliment.

It almost sounded like Matthews was trying to compliment him but the guy looked horrified!

12. The fixation of so many on Americans on the thought
That somewhere, somehow, some "underserving" poor person is getting a gummint bennie overrides any consideration for the trillions that the Ownership Class is stealing right under their noses.

13. These people have the same attitude about so-called "voter fraud"
They'd rather disenfranchise millions of people than let there even be a remote possibility that ONE ineligible person manages to cast a vote.

But they have JUST the opposite view when it comes to guns. In that case, we can't interfere with ANYONE'S right to carry a gun, even if we're trying to stop numerous kilings. No - in that case, they want everyone to be able to get a gun and if anyone kills someone, just prosecute them then!
