2. This does show that the Republican strategy of declaring Obama a failure
is not working - and actions they take to try to be roadblocks will come at a huge price to them.

5. What's interesting is look at his approval among liberal Dems.
I know it's one poll, but still. The Repubs' obstructionist strategy will likely backfire.

6. History repeats itself...
just as the more radical elements took control of the Democratic Party in the late 1960s/early '70s, and drove moderates into the GOP in numbers large enough to produce Reagan, now radical rightists have taken control of the GOP, and been driving them toward the Democrats in droves.
As with the Democrats, the GOP is in denial about their dysfunctional state, so they're gonna go deeper into the woods for a number of years yet. Barring catastrophic overreach by the far-left elements of the Democratic Party, I think we can look forward to a good long run.

13. I have been predicting this for a while, but it seems like the GOPs
are heading for a party split well before I ever imagined it.
I think the moderates will remain republicans, the extreme righties and the "religious" snake handlers will form possibly several parties well to the right of the moderates.
All these new parties will hate and mistrust the others, and will have little or no success trying to get anything done for many years to come.

Maybe things like Palin/Santorum in 2012?

17. you mean those "radical" dems that voted for
civil rights, which lead to the dixiecrats abandoning the democratic party and joining the republican party? i don't think those were radical elements in the party.

20. No.
You'll note I said LATE '60s - the radicalization that began in '68 with the Tet offensive, Cronkite saying we'd lost, etc., and the increasingly strident anti-american rhetoric of many of the protestors. Nothing radical about civil rights at all.

7. The only problem
is that there aren't many moderate Republicans remaining these days. I do have one sister who always considered herself a moderate Republican but she voted for both Kerry and Obama. She now considers herself an Independent.

8. He's really dropping the ball with the liberal dems....
... only 94%? What's wrong with you Barack! lol

That reminds me of the figures during the election when only 98% of African Americans supported him .... I would always wonder WHO in the world was that two percent? Steele and Alan Keeys and that other dude that wears the hat .... the three of them cant make up 2% of the population! lol Maybe if you count their wives and their mamas? ...... nah, I doubt their mamas are that foolish.

9. Haven't you heard? The GOP is "disappointed" with him.
Yeah, disappointed that they can't successfully nail him politically and gain traction.

14. As much as I hate to use him as a comparison,
Obama is our Reagan--in the sense that he's nearly untouchable by the other side.

than just a month after Obama takes office.

12. Not sure if this is the poll you're referring to, but very interesting about his bipartisan approach
http://www.ap-gfkpoll.com/pdf/AP_GfK_Poll_Feb_09_Topline.pdf

"• 52% of Americans approve of the stimulus bill, with 41% disapproving. And the public is confident by a 54%-45% margin that the plan will result in significant improvement."

"• Congress' approval is at only 31%-59%, but additional questions show a much more complicated picture. The number for Congressional Democrats is at 49%-45%, while Republicans are at 33%-59%. The Republicans appear to be cramping Congress' style."

"• Only 30% say Obama hasn't done enough to cooperate with Republicans in Congress -- the GOP base vote, basically -- while 62% say he's doing the right amount and 6% say it's been too much. Flipping it around, only 27% say Republicans have done enough to cooperate with Obama, with 64% saying not enough and 5% saying too much."

15. That 64% sayin reThugs haven't done enough is an important number, it's good and gets moderates....
...looking at reThugs like they're assholes.

If it stays around 59% throughout 2012 then we're in the good going into the election

21. Obama and the 22 amendment
In 1947 a republican congress passed the 22 Amendment, limiting presidential term limits. It is widely believed the major reason America made it through the great depression and WWII was the steady hand of FDR. Both President Clinton and President Reagan expressed their concern over this Amendment, as it curtails the power of Americans to elect the person they deem fit to lead. Take a look at www.end22.com
