Has anyone explained how good our new SoS Clinton is?
I think she's been great, and being me, I never thought I could say that. But she has been really good and represented our country well. What more can you ask for?

1. Of course she is. I don't see why anyone would have thought otherwise.

3. This was a no-brainer
As I said in earlier posts. I live overseas (in Asia now, prior to that Europe) and have for over a decade.
Most people were very excited when she chosen.
She was a great choice,

Glad some people are noticing

4. I was going to try and assemble a post yesterday to that effect
After hearing her on NPR yesterday, I think it should be clear to the world that a new day has dawned for US diplomacy. This quote stood out: "I view this not only as a moral issue but also as a security issue. I think it is imperative that nations like ours stand up for the rights of women. It is not ancillary to our progress, it is central."

6. I wish she hadn't told China "we hope you won’t make the same mistakes we made”...
... when talking about mistakes the Republicans made.

In China, Clinton Focuses on Climate

By MARK LANDLER
Published: February 21, 2009

BEIJING — Declaring “we hope you won’t make the same mistakes we made,” Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton invited China to join the United States in an ambitious effort to curb greenhouse gases, as she toured an energy-efficient power plant in Beijing on Saturday.

10. That was appropriate. We, meaning America, made those mistakes.
As a representative of America and not as a representative of the majority political party in America, she was right to take responsibility for America's errors.

11. It's not about the Republicans, but about industrialization
and it has been said by everyone who is serious about the global effort for climate control. I know both Gore and Kerry have said it - explaining that the Chinese and others should not go through the bad steps we did, but to move directly to cleaner energy production. This is a reference all the way back to the time when London was a smoke filled city at the beginning of the industrial revolution.

8. I thought it was a good choice when it was made, but not now.
Now I think it's an inspired, superb choice.

Message to Bill: You're not Prez anymore and your time is over. Let Obama be Prez and let your wife shine as SOS. You will live without the spotlight, I promise.

14. Her use of using special envoys is transforming the office of SOS

It is like adding several divisions on the military side. The US now has three major players who are working full time in three hot zones, Israel/Palestine, Afghanistan/Pakistan and North Korea. Reports are that more special envoys are on the way including one for Climate Change.

This very significant change in the structure of our diplomatic corp leadership has gone virtually unnoticed.

21. I think that it's very good strategy.
I come from a family of diplomats (also politicians)and they are thrilled at the new strategy that is being implemented at State. Hillary is correct, there are too many hot spots in the world for one person to handle. I think that she will be a remarkable SOS, time will tell.

;-)

16. I agree, & I was totally pissed & disgusted w/her during the primaries. I think she is a great SoS!
When Obama nominated her, I thought it was a great choice (even though I was still miffed with her), and I have been very pleased with her the whole way.

I always knew she would do well - she's smart, together, polished and she seems committed to our new President's vision & agenda (whew!).
That last one was the only thing I was ever really worried about.

I think she is exceptionally well-suited for this job.

Kudos to you, Madame Secretary! :patriot:

Now, about finding Bill some kind of personal handler / wrangler / muzzler .............

22. I'm still waiting ...
for someone to explain how good she is.

I've heard she's favors human rights, as long as they don't interfere with capitalism's entitlement to profit at humanity's expense.
