Hillary immediately greeted by Sexism.

:sarcasm:

In indonesia:
She appears to be enjoying herself immensely on her trip, despite a punishing pace from early in the morning to late at night. During a 9 p.m. dinner with community leaders in Indonesia, her exhausted aides were surprised at the constant laughter that burst out from her table.,,

It helps that she is already a world-famous figure, someone who is instantly greeted with awe and respect.

"It is glorious to meet you," exclaimed a Japanese student.

An Indonesian journalist burst out, "We love you both," referring to Clinton and Obama.

And in a front-page article, the Jakarta Post reported that "journalists held their breath" when Clinton arrived for a news briefing with the foreign minister. "She looks more beautiful than on TV," declared a reporter quoted in the article.

In China:
The Obama administration hopes to make climate change the centerpiece of a broader, more vigorous engagement with China. For Mrs. Clinton, the two-day stop in Beijing at the end of a week-long Asian tour, represents an effort to put her own stamp on a relationship that was dominated by the Treasury Department in the latter years of the Bush administration...

Speaking after a meeting with the foreign minister, Yang Jiechi, Mrs. Clinton said she had raised Tibet and other concerns. But she argued that the work of advocacy groups and people in civil society in this area was “at least as important” as that of government officials.

Mr. Yang repeated China’s customary statement that Beijing is ready to discuss human rights with Washington on the basis of “equality and non-interference in each other’s affairs.” The “smiling faces” on Chinese people, he said, attested to the country’s respect for human rights.

Mrs. Clinton got a warmer reception at lunch with Dai Bingguo, a member of the powerful State Council. “You look younger and more beautiful than you look on TV,” he exclaimed. Mrs. Clinton was momentarily nonplused, before replying, “Well, we will get along very well.”

From the cbs report: "She declined an invitation to sing on the Indonesian youth show, joking that she would drive the audience from the room. She roars with laughter, her head tilted back, when she hears something funny. And she speaks in simple and direct sentences, creating perfect sound bites." Enjoying herself immensely indeed.

12. Putin will not find HRC so 'beautiful' in the flesh ;)
Putin must have thought all his Christmas's must have come at one when he went eye to eye with GWB.

The ugliness of say a Condi, or GWB is more universal. It's a light hearted piece, showing the esteem HRC enjoys around the world.

7. I think Hillary Clinton is beautiful.
I'm confused now. Does that make me sexist? I understand she has faced a lot of sexism, but being called beautiful isn't offensive, imho.

15. She is much more beautiful in person.. and much more personable..
I'm not sure if camera people purposely try to make her look bad or if she's just not that telegenic.. but she glows in person and is much more warmer feeling... Its something many say when they get to meet her.. she glows and is beautiful. I don't think that is sexist.. just something you notice immediately.

16. Thank you for the lovely thread.
I'm glad that you added the sarcasm emoticon, some people didn't get the joke.

Hillary IS far more beautiful in person, she's warm, funny, laughs easily and has a smile that would light up any room. I'm glad that she's being appreciated overseas. We couldn't have sent a better good will ambasador to the world.

:hi:

Warm, flowery welcome for Clinton

Thu, 02/19/2009

Mending US ties: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (center) waves as she poses for photos with students from the elementary school where US President Barack Obama studied in his youth, upon her arrival at Halim airport in Jakarta on Wednesday. Clinton arrived in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority country, on a mission to start mending US ties with the Islamic world.

Local journalists held their breath as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton exited a room at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry with her Indonesian counterpart Hassan Wirajuda accompanying her.

Wearing a blue blouse, she looked fresh, and her smile never left her face despite the seven-hour nonstop flight from Tokyo.

“She looks more beautiful than on TV,” one female journalist said.

As she began to talk, all minds snapped to what she said.

“I bring greetings from President Obama, who has himself said and written about the importance of his time here as a young boy,” Clinton said. “It gave him an insight into not only this diverse and vibrant culture, but also the capacity for people with different backgrounds to live harmoniously together.”
