1. I believe that the LA Times is just a shell now. |
|
It was recently bought out and eviscerated.

2. Keyes strikes me as a publicity-driven soul who gauges himself |
|
by the degree of coverage he receives making outrageous claims in the public square.
There is no quiet in him.
He's all noise, all racket, all commotion, all stir-'em-up publicity hound.

3. LA Times, once a great newspaper, was bought out by a RW news outfit and |
|
has become biased and factually unreliable. Save your money and get your news on the internet from a variety of sources.

4. I bet they gave the same amount of coverage to 911 truthers |
|
I don't think is as much a serious controversy as it is the need to feed a voracious, 24 hour news cycle. I don't think there is enough serous news out there. Stuff like this is entertaining fluff - Keyes is well known enough to justify calling it "news".

5. I have nothing against free speech... |
|
...but their claims are so pathetically flimsy, it's irresponsible journalism to present them uncritically.

8. That's why it was relegated to a blog |
|
and lets not forget, when it suits our purposes we here at DU will link to the flimsy scrap of evidence on the most obscure web site to "prove" our point.

smart move.
I still think it is a very common thing at DU - feel free to disagree.

12. No - read the Constitution |
|
America has a very limited and restricted definition of treason. This does not even come close.

11. Keyes has shown himself to be a tinfoilhat nutball |
|
It's not a terrible thing that this is being shown.
Every case, every last one of them, has been laughed out of court or is in the process of being laughed out of court.

14. This from the same man who claimed Obama wasn't black enough |
|
because he wasn't descended from slaves. Yeah, I'm going to listen to whatever HE has to say....
I'm afraid the media wants to give the birther controversy some legitimacy by paying attention to Keyes, particularly because he can spread the drivel without looking like a crazy racist person from Stormfront. He knows damn well Obama is an American citizen. But Obama kicked his ass for the Illinois senate....and ultimately the presidency (remember, Keyes ran for president too).
Expect to see even more black conservatives coming out of the woodwork to kick Obama down....and watch the media rush to give them legitimacy.
