Meghan McCain, hard to impress

Meghan McCain wasn't impressed with Michael Steele, or Sarah Palin, in an interview with ABC Radio's Curtis Sliwa today:

On Michael Steele's New "Hip-Hop" Strategy:

"You know with all due respect to the new chairman, Michael Steele, I do not believe that is actually something that is going to work because it is premeditated. If you're saying I want people from the hip-hop community -- I don't even know what that means exactly -- I guess people that are in the music industry could become more closer and you know try and become Republicans (sic). I just don't think that is going to work. I think they need to rely on a message that is going to really stick with people of my generation. That message has to be equated in the medium of the internet, which obviously up to this point just hasn't happened."

On whether Sarah Palin appeals more to a younger generation:

"I think no matter who, in the next four years, becomes the prominent up and coming person -- Bobby Jindal, Gov. Huntsman -- there are lots of names being thrown around right now -- I think whoever gets to the point of becoming the prominent figure in the Republican party has to have a message that's simple that goes out. Hope and change was something that really stuck with my generation. It's something that's on bumper stickers and t-shirts. And it's something that was easy for people to understand. What the Republican party is not doing right now is having a message that can equally touch that point. Sarah Palin -- I hope she can, at some point, I just -- I think time will tell."

On whether she'll support Sarah Palin if she becomes the Republican nominee:

"I would support whomever the Republican candidate is in the next election."

7. EXACTLY and once they find out the hip hop community is very multicultural they'll reject it...
...just like they'll reject Steeles amateurishness

6. It doesn't take a genuis to figure out that Steele and Palin are
pathetically out of touch and in Palin's case, a total moron. And who gives a rat's ass what Meghan McCain thinks about anything.

8. You know I can't really stand her but she has a point that Dems and Obama used a simple message
The Rethugs are all over the place right now...don't except the stimulus money, then except it. I hope they don't become more disciplined though, its more fun to watch them implode and I don't want the Rethug party to ever get its feet back on the ground.

9. Sadly, Meghan McCain is thinking more clearly than her party's "leaders"
Of course, we're setting the bar awfully low here... she's no genius, but she's right about their rudderless ship.

It bodes well for 2010 and 2012 that you have to get as far down the RW food chain as the daughter of a losing presidential candidate to see relatively sane analysis of the futility of their youth movement. (Of course, it still hasn't occurred to her that the problem isn't merely sales, but that the message itself is wrong...)

12. I hear her on points, although Republican John Lindsay, many decades
ago, advanced them earlier and embodied them better.

Most all Republicans are negligible, although there may be a handful -- just enough for a poker game maybe -- who have stood out and -- can I say this? -- evolved.

John Lindsay, Pete McCloskey, Lowell Weicker, end-years Barry Goldwater, and a small number of others.

13. The whole family is crazy.Cindy McCain glad they lost..she can "drive her own car now"!
Meghan McCain "interviewed" her mother for her online column...she asked Cindy McCain "what was the best part of not becoming First Lady":

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-01-19/cindy-speaks/2/

What is the best part about not being first lady?

Well, I guess the best part would be that I can drive my own car and I am back to my normal everyday life. I can make choices and I have the ability to spend as much time as I want with all of you, which is most important to me. I am back to doing what I love—being a mom, taking care of my family, taking care of needs that are met, and with a family that is our size, that can get complicated.

----
and on the outfit that Cindy McCain wore at the convention:

Are there any outfits you wish you wouldn't have worn on the trail?

Yeah, I think the one I wore the night I spoke at the convention. It somehow was ill-fitting, we had to actually cut the inside of the sleeves. The sleeves were too tight and literally I was sitting there and my arms went to sleep
