|
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 12:12 PM by Fluffdaddy
The Cullman Times reports that Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby, in a meeting with constituents, appeared to give some thought to rumors questioning President Obama's citizenship. So just how many times are the RWers going to try the same old crap? It has been proven, oh, about 10,000 times, that Obama is a citizen. The righties need another line of attack.

4. Is there any way we can charge the next person who says this crap with treason? |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 11:49 AM by Kdillard
Enough already. Also the next person who brings this crap up in court needs to pay for wasting the courts time or at least be threatened with some sanction.

5. Since they can't win on issues and ideology |
|
they've got to question Obama's citizenship.
Aren't these the same folks who were willing to consider a change in the Consitution so that the dear Governator could run for President?
Anyway you look at it, these cretins are hypocrits.

This is a white man's issue. With this issue, the Republicans are further alienating Latinos and others whose citizenship is subject to extra scrutiny. They will also anger some of their supporters when this issue fails. I think the Obama team would not mind if the Supreme Court elected to hear this case, but that's because Obama is absolutely a natural born citizen.

11. I agree that Shelby is an embarrassment to |
|
Alabama and to the U.S.
He's also an embarrassment to former Alabama Senator Lister Hill who helped create the National Defense Education Act. That act provided low interest loans to me--and other people all over the U.S.--so we could go to college.
Shelby would never have voted for the act; he'd have called it socialism, instead of what it was, an investment in the people of the United States.

Alan Keyes spouting this garbage is one thing but when a member of the GOP Senate leadership spreads this bs, it is particularly disturbing. It is clear that an influential group of Republicans has decided to thwart the electoral process by questioning Obama's legitimacy as president. This is the same thing they did with Clinton. We are in a very dangerous time and the dangerous men of the RW have decided that Democratic failure is their only return path to power. They intend to do everything within their power to bring down Barack.

18. Desperate people do desperate things... |

Apparently, their fear-mongering over his handling of the economy is not working. Looks like they're having to fall back on old B.S. like the birth certificate smears. If they weren't so dangerous, I would be laughing at how pathetic they have become. And, I do mean "pathetic".

19. What do you base that off of? |
|
If that were true he would not be eligible to run for President and he seems to be prepping for that.
Are we going to start this "are they a real American" BS; every time a candidate with less then lily white skin decides to try and run?

20. Piyush Jindal was born on June 10, 1971 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana |
|
Under the Donofrio standard, though, he would not be a natural born citizen because his parents were both Indian citizens at the time of his birth.
Unfortunately for braindead morons who believe in the Donofrio standard, Jindal is still a natural born citizen.

17. Look at it this way.. |
|
if they can push through a change in the law to allow non-US born persons to serve, retroactively since Obama is already there, then they can run Gov. Arnold or a variety of others.

21. No law can alter the Natural Born Citizen requirement |
|
It would require a constitutional amendment.
Obama is a natural born citizen, as is Piyush Jindal and as was John McCain, so the point is moot.

22. The Repukes Want Violence |
|
This asshole and his fellow asshole Republicans are trying to incite violence in this country. They know their "people" (ignorant and violent). They want to see it happen so that Obama is in the position of literally having to send troops to certain places in this country. From there, they hope to do the 1860-thing all over again. These bastards truly want this nation to collapse and they to be the "savior" of their group of know-nothing idiots. They are also encouraging assassination in their cute little "wink, wink" politics that have kept these race baiters in office for decades.

24. UPDATE:Alabama Senator Richard Shelby Backs-Off his statement |
|
UPDATE: Graffeo calls to say that the Cullman Times report is a "distortion" and that Shelby mentioned that he hadn't seen the birth certificate only as a "throwaway line" while listing the qualifications for office and explaining that the issue had been examined at length and put to rest.
"He doesn't have any doubt" about Obama's citizenship and eligibility, Graffeo said.
