10. What scares me is that the expectations worldwide for Obama are so damn high
He's only human, he WILL make mistakes, and he WILL piss off specific portions of the global community from time to time.

It's nice that he's so well-loved, but....*concern*

...love him

High risk but he's been doing A- work up to now IMHO

P.S. He'd get an A+ if they do some better message control

16. Better to have high expectations and risk disappointment, than to have low expectations
and risk satisfaction.

The last eight years must have been very satisfying for those with low expectations...

21. Yeah, that is very moving.
A bit of hyperbole perhaps .... but it's a float! If you cant use hyperbole on a float when can you? lol

13. Um... I can't help but be creeped out by the coattails thing.
Am I being overly sensitive? I don't know... I kinda hope that people don't keep relying on Obama and thinking that they can have an easier time just following him... instead of coming up with some of their own ideas too-- it seems to come off as they expect to keep leeching off of Obama. I guess I'm thinking of all the world changes that are still necessary that the US can't all be responsible for without some more active input from the other countries. It's just annoying for people to expect the US to do everything and then to get pissed off at the US if the US somehow offends their sensibilities because the US got so used to doing everything for them. I dunno...

Well at least this means that Obama still has a ton of goodwill to work with, which might make it easier on him in international affairs.

18. Sigh. I still don't know how to post pix
without stealing bandwidth (and I don't even know what that means, really.)

But this picture is from the 2007 Carnival parade in Mainz, Germany and shows just how much they loved Obama's predecessor.

19. Wait. I think I finally figured it out. Here's the pic

Yahoo News: A float depicting U.S. President George W. Bush being spanked by the Statue Of Liberty passes by during the Rose Monday carnival parade in Mainz, western Germany, on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007. Thousands of spectators attended the traditional street carnival parade in the state of Rhineland-Palatinates’s capital. (AP Photo/Bernd Kammerer)

The photo of Obama raising the Statue of Liberty bookends nicely with this one, I think. :D
