Edited on Mon Feb-23-09 03:37 PM by WeDidIt
This could end up with this First Lt. being court martialed:

13. They don't believe he's President you see...
They call him the "usurper" and it's not unusual to see calls for military coups on the birther websites.

5. She finally found a sucker.....
She's been trying to find an active duty sucker or two for a planned lawsuit, but all she could find are retired personnel. Looks like her next lawsuit is going to cost someone his career in the Army.

And he's in a war zone to boot. Oh, this is gonna go well.......

6. Once his superiors find out, he'll be thrown in the brig
This is a huge violation of the UCMJ.

It's a direct attack on his superior in the chain of command plus conduct unbecoming.

He's toast. At best, all he gets is a dishonorable.

8. I wouldn't be so sure
Military members are usually brainwashed to believe that the Republicans have their best interests at heart, so his superiors may not say or do anything against him over this.

I agree with you, though. It's definitely conduct unbecoming an officer.

This whole situation is just so stupid.

9. Yeah, but.....
1) Active Duty military donated 6:1 to Obama over McCain, and:

2) Openly saying you will not follow the orders of one's commander is pretty much a crash landing, even if the person's superiors believe in what he's said.

Whichever way you slice it, he fucked up his career.

15. I hope you're right
I'd love to see the idiot's career go down in flames.

I'm not sure where you got the 6:1 statistics; my husband is active duty and has had to listen to his coworkers constantly criticize Obama ever since the election. Everyone I work with at my Guard job are die-hard Republicans, but since I live in a "red" state, that's to be expected. Maybe we just haven't met the more intelligent members of the military community (the ones who donated to Obama).

I did get a laugh out of McCain complaining about Marine One to Obama the other night. He made it sound as if Obama insisted on a new helicopter for himself. Nice try, McLoser!

10. It's mutiny
Edited on Mon Feb-23-09 04:46 PM by WeDidIt
He has openly questioned his superior's right to give him an order.

That's mutiny.

He'll end up being happy to take the dishonorable.

11. Agreed!
I was looking at this link

http://www.jag.navy.mil/documents/mcm2008.pdf

I'm counting at least:
888. 88. Contempt toward officials.
892. 92. Failure to obey order or regulation.
933. 133. Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman.
934. 134. General article.

With possibles on:
889. 89. Disrespect toward superior commissioned officer.
890. 90. Assaulting or willfully disobeying superior commissioned officer.
894. 94. Mutiny or sedition.
917. 117. Provoking speeches or gestures

22. No Article 89 0r 90
The POTUS is not considered a Commissioned Officer. He would have to be part of the Armed Forces to be a commissioned officer and that would conflict with civilian control of the military.

17. Oh, I agree!
I know it's mutiny, and a bunch of other violations of the UCMJ.

I'm just saying that the guy's superiors have to be *willing* to press charges, and a lot of them might be willing to look the other way.

The problem is that someone has to make a big stink over this in order for anything real to be done. Since it hasn't made the national news, and since it's just a Lt. and not a General, it will probably be swept under the rug.

I hope I'm wrong about that, of course. I kept my mouth shut and obeyed orders under GWB, despite my personal belief that he stole the election from Al Gore. This guy should have kept his mouth shut and obeyed orders, too. Part of being an officer is the fact that you're not supposed to speak out against the President, either. The guy definitely deserves to be punished, but like I said, his superiors have to initiate that process.

21. No, it is not mutiny.
I don't see anywhere he was working with or encouraging other military members to refuse legal orders. That would be mutiny.

He is refusing a legal order. It is something that happens when a subordinate believes he is be asked to carry out an unlawful order given by a superior. Clearly there has been no illegal order given here since Obama is clearly the POTUS.

If it takes this idiot officer taking his court marshal result to the SCOTUS to put this birther crap to bed, than I welcome this stunt.

24. Does anyone know what makes "Dr." Taitz a doctor?
I hope she's not claiming it's her juris doctor degree, which certainly does not confer the title of "doctor" (even when it's from an accredited institution, unlike the law school that Ms. Taitz attended).
