1. GE is about crossover appeal
As I said in the other post, one has it...the other doesn't. Whoever has it, wins.

2. Some Democrats run BEST against Republicans
and have no real desire to tear down other Democrats.

9. The operative word is desire. Big difference.
And based on records it appears that the only candidates who INCREASED their percentages significantly in head to head matches with Republicans are Kerry and Kucinich. Kerry didn't even HAVE a Republican opponent in his last race because they knew if he could defeat the most popular Repub in their state he could defeat ANY Repub there.

11. I'm not sure
that I'd quickly extrapolate MA to the national electorate at large. How Kerry fairs against Republicans in MA is NO indication of how he'd fair say in FL, LA, AR, TN, OH, WV, or other potentially competitive GE states.

Note: I'm not saying that he would fair poorly only that his track record in MA is pretty much irrevelant as a predictor.

3. Impossible to tell.
The loser of the primary has never gone on to challenge in the GE.

There's probably some truth to what you say, however, it is the Dem primary. Who better to choose the Dem nominee than Dems?

5. W's dollars start flowing next week so as to define each possible in
a negative light.

There will also be GOP 527 groups beginning their praise Bush ads.

The trashing and defining Dems - and the Morning in America leader and uniter with vision - ads will be non-stop through November - the GOP will not wait to the end of Primary season.

Of course "Bush" will not campaign - at least that is how the media will write it up.

The only time the ads will be slowed will be when GOP media control (via telling media they are biased in favor of Dems - if not direct control via the owners like Jack Welch of GE/NBC did in 2000) shuts down the Dem voice on the news - or if GOP media control can find a trial to run instead of political news - since Bush and Co. can them pretend "What Democratic comment are you talking about", knowing that the conversation will not be reported - and the media can explain it is all about ratings and making money, and shutting out Dems and helping Bush are only a side benefit.

6. Think about this.
We would rather have a candidate with less organization and less money to go against GW? Candidates that blow big leads like Lieberman, or present themselves like a joke by riding motorcycles on Leno, are preferable? Or what about opting out of public financing for short term primary advantage, even though the campaign will be helpless against Bush in the ge?

I don't think so, my friend.
