and will soon be bits of charcoal and metal in museums for people to gawk at on their way to more exciting displays of the latest cool toys of the Democratic Party.

I have no doubts they will turn it around eventually. The Democratic Party looked absolutely horrible in 2002 to 2004, but they've turned it around splendidly.

Still, it's fun to see the GOP trot out Cantor, Rush, Palin, Jindal, Steele and other assorted ghouls as they try to "rebrand".

1. The Democrats never looked this bad
During the Dem exile, Democrats came in just under a majority, and still had broad appeal. The Democrats were of course shooting themselves in the foot tactically and strategically at every opportunity, but the fundamentals of the party were sound.

The Republicans can of course turn it around. But if they don't do a very abrupt 180 soon, they are going the way of the Whigs and the Federalists. You can't build a major party out of a minor extremist fringe.

2. exactly. they're already trying. Jindal is GOP's Zune to Dems iPod.
the "me too" stuff never catches on. They seriously have to go the the salvage yard and build something brand new from the ground up. Getting a guy who seems bipartisan and is brown skinned isn't the way to do it, IMHO.

4. Maybe THAT'S why Jindal came across so oddly...
He was all wacked out on Tang and freeze-dried ice cream.

6. I don't know, but Dippin Dots sounds like a great nickname for
for whatever drug you'd have to be on to be a Jindal supporter-- like acid tabs, but made from Skoal mixed with willful ignorance and dropped onto little shredded bits of the Constitution and distributed at Hank Williams Jr. concerts.
