WTF? Are We Scared of Jindal? Where's the Discussion on Obama's Speech?
President Obama delivered a major speech to a joint session of Congress and the American People. He outlined his plans to recover what has been lost in this country. He made the obstructionist repukes look silly and petty.

And, all we are talking about is Bobby Jindal and how to refer to him?

:wtf:

1. Obama's always good
So that didn't surprise me. I was surprised by how poor Jindal went over....I honestly thought he would be much better than that (though I knew he lacked charisma). But this happened during the campaign too....once there is something new to discuss (Palin), then it tends to occupy a lot of space.

3. That distraction is by design.
They rolled out Palin right after Obama's acceptance speech. Now, we get Jindal after the Address. We shouldn't fall for it.

Jindal is a joke and nothing to worry about, just like Palin. I'd rather have some meat and potatoes.

4. then make a thread about Obama's speech I guess?
(it's possible that you could have. I haven't made any Jindal threads, but I've commented on them. I understand your thinking and agree with it for the most part, but I disagree with the old "If we're talking about him, that means we must be scared of him!" theory)

8. The Republicans have planned their self-destruction?
Interesting - I never though of it that way.

Of course we're talking about Jindal - there will be no Republican party as opposition if they keep wheeling out these hyper-partisan jingoistic buffoons. How can we not enjoy this self-destruction? Why shouldn't we talk about it - it's historic!

2. Americans expect maturity, intelligence, and confidence from Obama
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 08:54 AM by SpiralHawk
So it's not news when he delivers. As ususal.

However, Americans are understandably mortified, befuddled and stupified when a Republicon Homelander, like Jindal, whimps out and shovels a load of Homelander Horseshit Propaganda at them through the TV machine.

So forgive us while we drink our coffee and try to dig ourselves out.

6. The truly ironic thing is that Jindal would have sounded brilliant
if he'd spoken after Bush instead of President Obama.

Aside from that I wonder what the viewership ratings were last night, and I hope everyone who watched President Obama stayed long enough to watch Jindal's speech. The contrast was mind boggling.

7. Not scared, just amused and confused
All knew Obama would be on target last night, we were taken by suprise by how far off the mark Jindal was.
I, once again, am confident that the president will be able to deliver a speech clearly, without his handlers having to call an extra press conference to explain what he "meant to say"
People get the message the fist time around

9. After Obama the message board was full of threads about how
great he was with much discussion about the substance of his speech. But then Jindal came on and just overwhelmed us with how weak, pathetic, and jaw-dropping stupid he is compared to Obama.

Hopefully we will get back to talking about Obama's awesome speech as soon as the "shock and awe" of Jindal's performance wears off.

10. Obama scored a knockout last night.
On the other hand Jindal was a slow motion train wreck/los angeles car chase. We love us that shit.

11. THANK YOU! The "Jindal concern" is a stupid non-issue.
If I didn't know better, I'd swear Limbaugh has paid-off minions over here, or something. If RWers stayed up all night brainstorming on it, they couldn't come up with a better way to divert attention from a great night for Dems.

12. Did you actually watch him deliver that speech last night?
It was fucking hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing and wondering what ever happened to the Republicans as the opposition.

This was a DISASTER for the Republicans - NOT wanting to gloat over this is actually suspicious in my opinion.

16. Oh, the gloating I understand! Yes, it WAS hilarious. It's the
supposed "racism" outrage that is hypersensitive overkill.

13. Strawman. One thing has nothing to do with the other. I don't know why
you would assume so. Says more about you...

15. When all the posts are on the exorcist and no praise for what
a great speech Obama gave, they are related. I enjoy kicking repukes as much as anyone, I just expected more praise and discussion about the President's great speech.

No strawman. I just don't understand the obsession with a nobody.

14. I just feel that Jindal picked exactly the wrong necktie.
If you harbor presidential ambitions, well, then it just seems to me that you have to be more judicious in choosing wardrobe items.

That tie was an abomination. Let's not tiptoe through the tulips on this topic, ladies and gentlemen. Some tough fashion tips would have served Piyush Jindal very well last evening.

And that elegant stairwell in the background. A poor background choice indeed. Something more evocative of Gov. Jindal's region would have done better. Perhaps a Power-Point-like slide show of him performing exorcisms would have been nice, with ample shrieking and wailing.

Who could resist? We were all just high and giddy because Obama rocked the house so we were having a good time LOAO at the republicans through Jindal.

23. I get it.
I was just surprised when I woke this morning and that joker was all I could find in GD: P. It's fun to kick the losers, and I was laughing at him last night.

But, before he came on I was proud and moved by Obama's speech. I just hate to see it get glossed over. But, I probably shouldn't have jumped on the revelry of jindal-the-joke.

22. I think everyone's talking about Jindal because he gave us something more valuable than Obama did.
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 10:11 AM by rocktivity
I confess that when I woke up today, my first thoughts were about how bad Jindal was instead of how wonderful Obama was. I confess that I wondered why, but not for long: I came up with the answer four years ago.

After Paul Hackett lost to Jean Schmidt in 2005, I wrote: "...(He) came within 3.5% of winning a district that is 70% Repub. Do you honestly think he would have fared just as badly if the district had been 60 or 50 percent Repub?...If we get together and make the effort to multiply what Hackett did by fifty states, we'll win a LOT more often...(in 2006)...than we'll lose...Hackett has just dropped a sack of political captial into our laps..."

Last night, Jindal did the exact same thing. His robotic presence, bedtime-story oratory, poor choice of talking points and knee-jerk peddling of decrepit Rethug theories ARE worth talking about because simply they make Obama's performance and ideas look that much better. With the help of Palin, Steele, and even Limbaugh, we can say, "You can follow Obama, or you can KEEP following THEM!" And we'd damn well better say that as loudly and often as possible, because that will help Obama and the Dems (especially the progressive ones) in the long run.

If there's anything worse than looking a gift horse in the mouth, it's looking a gift ELEPHANT in the mouth.

:headbang:
