Wonkette: Michael Gearson's Famous Declaration: "Jindal ‘Not Easily Caricatured’"
"Michael Gerson very clearly sat down to write his column about the fantastic splendor of Bobby Jindal some time ago, before the hapless nerdsome twit was disowned by David Brooks and even some people on Fox. The word “Jindal” shall never again pass the lips of any conservative — not even the man himself, who will change his name to Theodore Ogelvie and leave Louisiana under cover of darkness.

Anyway, Gerson digs (dug) Bobby Jindal because he is exactly like Bill Clinton, in that he is a charismatic womanizing Rhodes Scholar from the South, minus the charisma and the womanizing and anything else remotely interesting.

Jindal also resembles Sarah Palin, except less pretty, and with no ovaries or sass, but with credentials that “elites” favor, such as a willingness to read books.

And Jindal’s résumé, intellectual confidence and command of policy make him the anti-Palin. Fairly or unfairly, media and intellectual elites (including some conservative elites) regard Gov. Sarah Palin as an inhabitant of another cultural planet. Jindal, while also religious and conservative, speaks the language of the knowledge class and will not be easily caricatured or dismissed.

They need to make a time machine for newspaper columnists so that they can avoid this problem of being completely wrong about everything."

1. You omitted the picture

Maybe the first time in history that a Presidential candidate has been successfully caricatured in advance of his becoming a candidate.

3. That's roughly as cool as the watermelons on the white house lawn postcard
Jindal isn't from fucking Mumbai.

The only connection he has to Slumdog Millionaire is his skin color and features.

11. just being devil's advocate
but isn't the story about someone winning a gameshow against great odds? couldn't that be related to Jindal's ascent? Or is everything always about race. If the term Slumdog Governor had been placed on Palin's head would it be racist? Was constantly calling her Caribou Barbie sexist? or possibly classist (maybe a reach but I do get the feeling sometimes that anyone not from a NE city or from the West Coast gets labeled pretty quickly)? How PC do we need to be? I'm really not sure. Most people know racism when they hear it but apparently these Jindal jokes and names are in some sort of grey area because we don't typically think of Indian Americans as being among the usual suspects of racism targets.

12. It took me awhile to see your outrage because I had no clue what slumdog millionaire was
...other than a movie. That I never saw.

I'm thinking, that's not f*ing mumbai, that's New Orleans, and that's a scene from the Exorcist (when movies were worth watching) and that's Palin his future running mate, what's the point?

I learned something new today, thanks.

See y'all later.

Good catch, SemiCharmedQuark

P.S. I can't wait until Saturday Night Live has the Bobby Jindal versus David Paterson debate. That should be a barnburner. Hell, maybe they'll even throw in Sarah Palin for free.

9. Jindal is just such a doofus
and he's batshit religulous crazy. But total doofusness is surely his defining characteristic, as was richly shown last night.

If you are going to test something new to the party, like a woman or a minority, a thorough test-run is preferable to a crash 'n burn like Sarah.
