Jindal Spokesman Fires Back (AP)

Jindal Spokesman Fires Back

(AP) A spokesman for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal fired back at critics during a Thursday morning press conference. Hector Peabody, who is identified as the senior partner at WABAC, a Louisiana think-tank, charged that political opponents of "the rising Republican star" were engaged "in a coordinated ethical disturbance aimed at his response to Mr. Obama’s dangerous plans."

"We need look no further than MSNBC’s Christopher Matthews coverage for evidence," Mr. Peabody told reporters. "He said – and I quote – ‘Oh, God’ when Governor Jindal approached the microphone on our carefully prepared set. The liberal news media is involved in an under-handed, left-wing attack upon the religious institutions our country was founded on." …….

When asked about Jindal’s voting record, which was reportedly 100% in support of President George W. Bush while Jindal served as a US Representative from his state’s 1st Congressional District, Peabody replied, "You are purposely looking to the past. There are no ‘time machines’ that can change what previously may or may not have occurred. Governor Jindal’s vision is one of the future. The republican party is proud to have a hero who risked his life in a bipartisan effort to save human lives during Katrina. The media avoids the obvious comparisons between this and John Kennedy PT 109." ……

"Those democrats in the belt way are preoccupied with volcanoes," Peabody answered. "The federal government is not supposed to spy on any citizen’s religion. Governor Jindal has requested time on The O’Reilly Factor to detail this phase of the war on Christianity. He notes that in Exodus 19: 16 and 18, we read, ‘So it came about on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud upon the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. …Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.’ Surely, the American public needs a leader like Governor Jindal to protect our rights." ……

77. Actually, I'd kind of like to start one
focused on New Orleans and its recovery.

And it would by no means be a one-man operation.

meanwhile, outside think tanks, like Brookings and RAND, have set up shop in town, at least for the duration.

86. Oh, there is
no reason to be either ashamed or embarassed. The truth is that the "article" was more real than 75% of what the corporate media reports, and sounded 110% like the right-wing republicans. Also, as my wife frequently notes, only a very few people think what I find to be giggle to be funny, at all. (I was surprised that people didn't recognize "Mr. Peabody." Old Hector was among the best cartoon characters I used to watch when skipping school.)

8. Do they really think religious extremism is the way to go?
First of all, our country was founded as a SECULAR nation full of religious people. Second, those bullshit quotes from Exodus are "purposely looking at the past". Why should we be enslaved by the writings of people from 1900 years ago? Finally, nobody is spying on anybody's religion. Nobody gives a shit about Bobby Jindal's religion, except where it malignantly influences his horrible policy views. I have a right to know why he is vehemently anti-choice and anti-science, even as he was a Harvard Med school accepted Biology student!

52. You can't write satire about these people -- because it's all so believable
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 03:37 PM by nichomachus
You really can't tell the truth from the mockery...

As I said on another thread:

You gotta love the Republicans. Their two "brightest lights" are a self-proclaimed exorcist (Jindal) and a witch hunter (Palin) and their moral leader is a drug addicted radio entertainer (Limpballs).

They have a supporting cast of neutered members of Congress who can't take a shit without getting a fax from Karl Rove -- and even then they poop all over themselves.

Jindal blows his maiden speech so bad that even the party sycophants couldn't stomach it. Palin's own daughter calls bullshit on her mother's "abstinence only" crusade.

The party's last presidential candidate is wandering around DC shaking his cane and shouting at pigeons, thinking they're helicopters.

Seriously, how do you satirize this? It is its own satire.

Chris Matthews is engaging in an attack on religious institutions by muttering "oh God". What utter blathering nonsense. Don't these people know that when you find yourself at the bottom of a hole its best if you stop digging?

88. It really does
I mean even jindal's explanation of his lie is stretching the truth - No one who cares about human suffering after the nation's largest and most devastating natural disaster mocks efforts to minimize the deaths and destruction other natural disasters could cause. Mocking the volcano detection systems shows Katrina was nothing to him but an inconvenience that worked out to his benefit. If Bushco hadn't screwed with Blanco and ignored her needs because she was a demn and if bushco hadn't made her life hell as she tried to help her state, jindal would never have won the governor job his has.

And what's even scarier is that this is the mentality they have moving forward. They don't see their own insanity.

It's just all quite frightening to realize these people were in charge of our government for the last eight years and all the terror they have caused.

another Mr Magoo...4th paragraph is a tripp

"You are purposely looking to the past. There are no ‘time machines’ that can change what previously may or may not have occurred. Governor Jindal’s vision is one of the future. The republican party is proud to have a hero who risked his life in a bipartisan effort to save human lives during Katrina.

72. Peabody forgot to say that if we look over our shoulders at the past ...
...we'll be turned into pillars of salt, one and all.

"The federal government is not supposed to spy on anyone's religion." Spying on our phone calls and what we do in bed is okay, though!

Surely, the American public needs to wake the fuck up! Half of us have. Maybe in three days a very loud trumpet sound will wake up the other half of us.

I'm quakin' and tremblin' in anticipation!

The republican party is proud to have a hero who risked his life in a bipartisan effort to save human lives during Katrina. The media avoids the obvious comparisons between this and John Kennedy PT 109." ……

Peabody quit looking to the past, the Bible IS the PAST :P

Edit: Quote from Michelle Bachmann: "You be da man! You be da man!" I left out the BE:blush:

81. No, Mr. Peabody, it's because your guy was not impressive.
And as for Obama's plans being dangerous, it wasn't Obama's kind of plans that brought this country to its knees. Dangerous for who? A few extra dollars the rich have?

WABAC Finally Ships: It's About Time

April Fool's

After years of thwarted anticipation and dashed hopes, WABAC Corp. has finally announced a ship date for its onomatopoetic product, the WABAC Time-Travel Machine. Believe it or not, WABAC (based in rural New Jersey, near Wawayanda State Park) has been toiling to perfect the device since the late fifties. The WABAC will be the world's first time-travel mechanism, allowing users to skip through history and visit any time period they like, opening up myriad educational, entertainment, and revisionist possibilities.

An interesting operational bug, says WABAC CEO Mr. Hector Peabody , is that upon returning from their journeys, time travelers are apt to make groan-inducing puns. Said Peabody, "Sherman, one of our early testers, upon returning from a visit to early twentieth century scientist Ivan Pavlov, followed up every sentence with 'Does that ring a bell?' Very annoying."

When asked why WABAC Corp. couldn't simply go back 50 years and tell itself how to build the machine, Peabody growled something about the dangers of changing history, but had no other comment. Seemingly with no similar fears, President Gore released a statement to the press detailing his "Greening the Past" initiative.
