Steele gives Jindal some "Slum Love"
Seriously...???

This an interview that he did with an ABC Radio Show. And it ends with "Playa, Playa."

Classic ignorance.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0209/Steele_offers_Jindal_slum_love.html?showall

SLIWA: Now, using a little bit of that street terminology, are you giving him any Slum love, Michael?

STEELE: (laughter)

SLIWA: Because he is — when guys look at him and young women look at him — they say oh, that's the slumdog millionaire, governor. So, give me some slum love.

STEELE: I love it. (inaudible) ... some slum love out to my buddy. Gov. Bobby Jindal is doing a friggin' awesome job in his state. He's really turned around on some core principles — like hey, government ought not be corrupt. The good stuff ... the easy stuff.

1. weird
I hated when people made that reference here (even if they were trying to be "ironic" or whatever), and it's fucked up there too. Plus, "friggin awesome"? This train wreck is going to be interesting to watch.

3. Micheal Steele will be at Tavis Smiley's State of the Black Union this weekend
It should be interesting. I don't know of he'll be on the morning or afternoon panel. I'm sure Tavis will be comfortable with Steele but Steele better make sure he doesn't put his foot in his mouth.

4. Tavis was firmly AGAINST Obama, so Steele will feel right at home.
I watched the State of the Black Union last year, and it was a big waste of time. Just a time for Tavis to have his ego stroked.

This will the 10th year and all they do is talk and some of the panelists try to outperform everybody else.

Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 04:24 PM by vaberella
But I can honestly sit there and have to wonder who he's really making a fool of...Black people, Black people who obviously hate Blacks, or the Republican party. At this point I can't decide but he's as bad as the idiot with the busted eye on CNN or Tiger Woods (thank God he's not in politics, we'd be done years ago).

17. Blackface?! Huh....
What does that have to do with this? There have always been Blacks who have undermined Blacks (Minorities in general) and have upheld/supported racist ideology and/or agenda. You have the House Slave who at many times was like the spy for the slave owner. You have this going on during revolts and uprisings, you have this during the Civil Rights movement, and on and on it goes. ti has nothing to do with "Blackface" since those people are not "Whites" by any stretch of the imagination.

23. My point being that the blackface, or giving the people the stereotyping they want
is not being done by someone White, but by someone Black.

25. I'd agree with that by half...
He has been mocking/ridiculing Black culture and Blacks in general all the time. His "playa, playa", his "taking this to the streets to get the "urban youth""<----it's all manipulation by abusing the culture of sorts to get ahead. So it's not just Jindal, although I find that also grossly offensive, but he's been doing this to ALL Minorities except East Asians, yet.

33. I've had one too many embarrassing moments with my family. Michael Steele
reminds me of my friend Jamar when his mama popped up with hair rollers and a bath robe at our 8th grade dance. I never laughed so hard in my life.

If not racist, then certainly classist.

The fools are bloody disgusting. I can't stand Steele and at this point I know he's mocking and ridiculing Blacks and the language sub culture at the same time taking a veiled pock shot (along with the interviewer) at Indian's. I'm a bit pissed.

32. Yeah. It's a goldmine, with Steele, Jindal, Palin.
Then you got Ron Christie, who cracks me up. Mittens is great too. Even McCain's senile angry old man routine was pretty funny.
They're a barrel of laughs.
