I could be mistaken, but I believe something like this happened...

Electoral vote 365
States carried 28 + DC + NE-02
Popular vote 69,456,897
Percentage 52.9%


John McCain
Sarah Palin
Republican Party

Electoral vote 173
States carried 22
Popular vote 59,934,814
Percentage 45.7%

Oh.. but we don't have 60 Senators. Never mind.

(I still like looking at it though. It's pretty. I especially like the fact that 16 states with double digit electoral votes went Dem vs 5 for Repub. And Missouri was pretty durn close.)

1. There is still to much red on that map for me.
But i am proud of my state...New Mexico...we through out all of the rethugs...every last one of them.

2. Most of it is coyote country, though
The vast majority of that red area is unpopulated with humans.

3. I was going to say the red states are mostly
non-urban but I like coyote country better. (Not intending to disparage coyotes tho)

we have been in such bad shape during last eight years..it is difficult to comprehend that there are so many lunatics out there... :(
