Verdict on Bobby Jindal: Boy Blunder

Republicans' new hope comes up with a fizzer. The reviews were swift and scathing: Off-putting. Amateurish. Disastrous.

And those were fellow Republicans reacting to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who delivered the nationally broadcast follow-up to President Barack Obama's speech to Congress. (Not surprisingly, Democrats echoed the criticism.)

Even allowing for hyperbole, it was not, by most accounts, a winning performance by Mr Jindal. Touted as a rising Republican star and a possible contender for the White House in 2012, the 37-year-old Governor quickly learnt the spotlight can singe just as easily as illuminate.

Fellow conservatives criticised his mannerisms, his delivery, even the backdrop for his 10-minute speech (a spiral staircase in the Governor's mansion in Baton Rouge). "You can't go on TV and counter Obama with that," said radio hostess Laura Ingraham. Philip Klein of the American Spectator said Mr Jindal seemed more like a high school student delivering his valedictory speech than a prospective Republican leader.

The Aussies who actually bothered to watch this embarrassment are pretty uniform in the conclusion that this guy is more bogan than Rhodes scholar.

1. Can you imagine how hard David Plouffe must have been laughing when he was
watching that speech?

He must have been rolling on the floor.

7. I'm actually feeling a little bad--at least he didn't take six years to complete
a bachelor's in communications from State U, like the Alaskan Dimwit. Bobby Brady actually got himself a serious education--and yet, he wasn't smart enough to avoid saying some really stupid things (volcano monitoring). He didn't do the Rhodes Scholar distinction any favors, that's for sure. Kind of like Bush didn't exactly make Yale and Harvard look good.

Me- I don't think so.

Seen too many formerly intelligent people turn delusional through religious dogma and Republican ideology.

10. Well, then "his act" bit the dust.
One can be a Rhodes Scholar and not be able to communicate lies on a national level. Did he have to lie when he was in grad school?

That would be brilliant to get on after Obama and act like an idiot even though you could do better..yeah right.
