The GOP just doesn't realize that what they did under Newt in 93-94 will not work today because |
|
there is a completely different electorate. AND because Barack Obama was elected with a clear majority OVER 50% AND because they don't have anywhere close to the numbers now that they had in 93-94. AND that some of what fueled the dissent in 93-94 was not Clinton but congressional corruption overblown (postal scandal)--it is mainly the GOP that is the party of corruption. The really don't learn anything from history.

2. They don't acknowledge history and that will always be |
|
their albatros and continue to destroy them!
It doesn't help that they have pushed any moderates out of the party. Seriously, I expect them to become so extreme that they will become a terroristic type organization. They have become so mired in their ideology that they can't see any big picture. To them the utter devastation of America so their ideology could rule makes perfect sense to them.
We should never become lazy, we should always be vigilant. They are hateful, small minded people and they can be very dangerous -Timothy McVeigh redux....

of how out of touch they truly are and how dumb they are to think that repeating a few very-worn out phrases will continue to work. Although they do certainly seem adept at maximizing their "face" time on cable. :puke:

6. It only worked in '94 because they had been out of power for 40 years |
|
so nobody knew what they were like as a majority party.
Now they know.

7. There are tons of reasons why 2010 is not 1994 |
|
For one thing about 25% of the electorate who voted in 1994 will be dead by 2010 and replaced. And younger voters are leaning dem by about 40 point margins because we've grown up with the idea that the GOP is dangerously and cluelessly incompetent and obstructionist.
Not only that but in 1994 the public had no idea what the GOP would do in power as they'd been out for a long time. We now know.
America is alot more secular, non-white, urban and tolerant than in 1994. I look forward to 2010 being yet another year the GOP loses senate seats everywhere but the south.
