How do we get real change ?
Since even the most dedicated Obama supporters, like myself, are starting to acknowledge that the change we got is definitely not the one we were promised and, more importantly, surely not the change we need, I guess it's about time we start thinking of a new approach and strategy to get where we wanted to get with the Obama change movement. I think it's fair to say most of us were duped, at least in the primaries. So how do we really change things?
Definitely not through elections. As we've seen in Obama's case, a candidate who wants to be viable in the DLC controlled democratic party or in the national elections would have to completely abandon most of his principles. The only way we will get where we want is if we make our voices heard through massive protests, strikes and civil disobedience. In other words, it must come from us. How about using the strength of Obama movement to plan those street protests, instead of simply helping sell the Obama administration's agenda like Plouffe wants us to do ?

What do you think ?.

4. I think you shouted your way through the Primaries without listening.
And now that the glorious pagentry is over, and the grimy reality of governing and policy making has begun, you have realized that change isn't as sexy as you had thought. It involves compromise and a gradualism that you did not appriciate.

You can deal with it, or rebel against it, the choice is yours.

Cause it could be funny!

Otherwise, you might be lost...and I have found the forum you are looking:

Or you could always attend a Tea Party protest, as they appear to be
tremendously undermanned.

8. "massive protests, strikes and civil disobedience"....against what?
A Democratic President who I voted for who is swiftly undoing the mistakes of the last 8 years and trying to keep our economy from collapsing?

What am I supposed to be protesting and striking against, exactly?

12. we who are "dedicated Obama supporters" are still very happy w/ Obama & the change he's giving us
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 03:45 PM by Numba6
Only a few trolls are angry that Obama doesn't check w/ them on each & every appointment, policy review, and even scheduling

And they were all whiners in the election, too, IMHO, & probably never voted for him

Most of the complaints come from people SHOCKED that Obama is actually fulfilling the campaign promises he made -- whether good policy (liberal) or weak (more conservative) -- but he was open & transparent from the beginning about what he offers.

& he's interested in the art of the possible, not the whiny demands of ideologues

15. far better -- we need to tax clothes only beaches...
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 04:09 PM by Numba6

if you believe the GOP, that would put a burdensome pressure on all clothes only beaches that they would have to counter by allowing nudity!

19. Give it some time. I am. And I knew the guy was no liberal OR
progressive when I voted for him.

Wait until we see if he decides that he's gonna let the bush** admin slide on the crimes. That's the issue that will decide for me whether I remain a democrat or not.

Just wait some more. He has done some great things. And he's a good man.

Give it some time.
