Palin leads GOP presidential poll
Campaign 2012

Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor February 27, 2009 01:16 PM

As the obvious Republican contenders for president in 2012 gather at a Washington conference, a new poll finding released today found that three are ahead of the pack.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey, conducted last week, asked Republicans who they would be most likely to support.

The results: 29 percent said Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential candidate last year; 26 percent said former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who sought the nomination last year; and 21 percent said former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who also ran last year.

Huckabee spoke Thursday to the Conservative Poliitcal Action Conference, where he called for "family conservatives," "fiscal conservatives," and "freedom conservatives" to unite as "compentent conservatives." Romney is scheduled to speak this afternoon. Palin cancelled her appearance, saying she was too busy as governor.

Another 9 percent answered Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, but that was before his widely disparaged performance on Tuesday night giving the official Republican response to President Obama's address to Congress. And 10 percent named other candidates.

The survey, conducted Feb. 18-19, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points among Republican

...but if the GOP tries running Palin against Obama in 2012 I might have to reconsider my views. Talk about a gift from the heavens.

8. What about Bobby? He didn't even make the top three?
I'm seeing that this is really coming down to a racial thing.

Jindal is more intelligent than Palin by far.

Everyone knows Palin is a bigot. Especially her fans.

Obama's Presidency has sent the cockroaches out into the light running frantically around in circles, acting out.

So who's left of the Republican base? Uneducated, bigoted White people?

The Republicans are finished.

14. Huckabee can come across as likeable/personable on TV
So, I think he could be their most dangerous candidate. Granted, if the economy is doing well 3 years from now, it's landslide city no matter the candidate.

Huckabee still needs to answer for his signing the SBC statement about how women should graciously submit to their husband's leadership.

27. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! I don't want Palin to get the republican 2012 presidential nomination. Because if she gets it, Sarah Palin will have made history to become the first woman to be nominated for POTUS! Do you want that? Her ego will grow even larger, and the freepers will say, "Ha-Ha! Even Hillary never got that far!" They will start calling us the sexist party, again! They will rub it in our faces! Plus it would mean that the republicans would have actually beaten the democrats out on having the first female presidential nominee. The left has already had the first female vice-presidential nominee, and now the first racial minority president. The left always beats out the right in diversity. The left should have the first female presidential nominee, and president. Not the republicans! But, the good thing is, I don't think Palin will ever be president. I am also hoping that she in fact does not even make it through the primaries.
