Tears of joy are streaming down the faces of the NRA and RNC over the possibility the the Assault Weapons Ban may be rising from the grave.

Remember what happened last time?

5. No, it was the end of the Democratic party's electoral chances for a decade.
I promise you that will happen again.

12. That would be a false assumption on your part.
I couldn't be less interested in what most people care about.

Look up histrionics in the dictionary.

13. It's a wedge issue and rethugs will play it up ............
but it's not as bad as some make it out to be.

Facts are facts, countries who have completely, or near completely outlawed guns have seen major reductions in violent crimes.

In fact, every time a new gun bill goes into effect you see a major reduction in crime - even here in the United States of America. Even Rudy G understood that outlawing handguns inside New York City limits reduced violent crime.

14. I believe that most cities with very restrictive gun laws -
DC, NYC, Philadelphia, etc - have huge "gun violence" problems, not the other way around.

I live in a county in PA with well over 25 thousand people licensed to carry - not own, carry - firearms. Crime has been going down for the last several years, after the new sheriff made it easier to obtain a carry license.

I have had such a license for nerayl 15 years now, will renew it for another 4 years this summer.

16. Alright, so explain this ........
In 2007, this is the latest crime statistics I could find, NYC had a total of 614 violent crimes out of a population of of 8.2 million.

In Memphis there were just under 2000 violent crimes reported with a population of just under 670k.

Buffalo, with a population of just over 270k, reported over 1500 violent crimes.

St. Louis, less than 300k, but more than 2000 violent crimes.

Detroit, population just under 861k, more than 2,200 violent crimes.

Even when you look at cities like Chicago and and Philly, both had violent crime rates around the 1500 mark, but one has a population of around 1.5 million (philly), and the other has a population of 2.2 million (chicago).

It works.
