Ron Paul's son may run for Senate from KY
Congressman Ron Paul's son Rand is going to run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Jim Bunning if Bunning ultimately decides not to run, he said Thursday night.

"We will need a conservative to run against that liberal David Williams," Dr. Paul, 46, a Bowling Green opthamologist, said.

"Bunning has been treated unfairly," he said. "It's been his finest hour within the last year or so with his votes on the bailouts."

"David Williams has given up the ghost on the budget. He didn't even put up a fight on raising taxes."

1. Lovely, what the world needs in another Paul in government.
After all, we really need more paranoid nutjobs in congress.

3. Now THIS IS interesting....
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, confirmed to The Washington Post Monday that Kentucky Senate President David Williams had met with officials at the committee last week. Cornyn called it "a courtesy visit." ed. note: that is the potential primary challenger

"Just to clear up any potential confusion, the NRSC supports Sen. Bunning," Cornyn said.

Asked if he was happy with Cornyn's comments, Bunning said today: "I don't believe anything John Cornyn says. I've had miscommunications with John Cornyn from, I guess, the first week of this current session of the Senate. He either doesn't understand English or he doesn't understand direct: 'I'm going to run,' which I said to him in the cloakroom of our chamber."

Bunning also said that if a candidate was recruited by the committee to run against him in a primary, he would file a lawsuit.

"I would have a suit against the NRSC if they did that," he warned.

And...

Rumor has it that Jim Bunning is so spitting mad that he’s telling people he’ll just resign and let Steve (Beshear) appoint someone.

So John Cornyn's going to screw Jim Bunning over big time by getting Tx Congressman Ron Paul's son to run against him and lying to Bunning about it. No, Paul is not going to run ONLY if Bunning doesn't. He will run whether or not Bunning runs for reelection. That's what Republics do. Lie and eat their own.

4. Look on the bright side ..........
Ron Paul never votes with Democrats, but on the other hand he ALMOST never votes with Republicans either.

Now I just wonder if they will form their own party with a full libertarian platform.

5. He has enough money to run. Paul has been ripping off libertarian donors for years
& funnelling the money to his relatives

6. well KY does keep Bunning in office, so I guess Paul isn't too hard to imagine
despite his father's simplistic, absolutist views on everything...

and "Rand?" even Sarah Palin isn't cruel enough to name one of her kids that....
