Who the **** is Warner Todd Huston??
Edited on Sat Mar-07-09 01:07 PM by Jackeens
I had the misfortune to stumble upon his rant here:

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2009/03/07/obamas-british-gift-gaffe-not-reported-u-s-media

"The Obamas, Barack and Michelle both, pretty much diplomatically botched the recent visit of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife. Oddly enough, the U.S. Old Media seems uninterested in the story that is a hot topic in England, a story that's left many Brits a bit miffed"....bla bla bla.

This line stood out:

"Not to be out done in tastelessness by her husband, Michelle got into the act, too. Mrs. Brown came bearing two outfits for the Obama girls from Topshop, one of Britain's trendiest and expensive women's wear retail outlets. In return, Michelle apparently had a staffer run down to the White House gift shop and grab two toy Marine One helicopter models for the Brown's boys. Class all the way, huh?"

Topshop....one of Britain's trendiest and expensive women's wear retail outlets?

Damn it, I shop there....proof that it's hardly trendy and expensive.

But you have to love Mr Huston's message: the Obamas have no class.

How petty and pathetic (and dishonest) can this reporting get? I know, I know.....probably much worse.

ADDED: And he writes: "Worse, no one is 100% sure that Obama was smart enough to know that DVDs made in America don't play on European DVD players. American DVDs are created in the "Region One" format while those in Europe play in "Region Two" format. A U.S. DVD just won't play on a machine made for the English market."

Has this prick never heard of region-free DVD players?! Even I have one. So I can play US DVDs. Sounds like Mr Huston wasn't "smart enough" to have heard of them.

1. The Brit press is going apeshit over this. I'd like a toy helicopter, in fact...
the flight of three went over my house this morning.

4. Are they?
A quick perusal suggests they are more concerned with their own economics (ie... the govt taking over a hunk of lloyds) and Clinton mispronouncing names and having a mistranslated button.

7. Yep non stop bashing. I didn't know DVD's were so awful.
Oh well personally I would enjoy the DVD's more than a pen and a huge biography of Winston Churchhill that Obama probably doesn't have time to read.

2. It just seems like a typical rightwing site devoted to bashing
Edited on Sat Mar-07-09 01:23 PM by Kdillard
Obama and dems. Just as there are those in the British press who are trying to use a manufactured snub of Gordon Brown and his wife to push their own agenda. The fact that he calls Topshop one of Britain's trendiest women's retail outfits says it all because from what I understand it is similar to America's Target. I am sure the boys thought the helicopters were cool and that Gordon Brown and his wife will enjoy the DVD's. It will be interesting to see how the press treats the President and the First Lady when they go to Britain at the end of the month.
