Big shock! My local afternoon paper buries Iraq crash story inside
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 03:19 PM by lancdem
I'm talking about the nine soldiers dying. (I was being facetious about the shock part. The editors are Repukes, so it really is no surprise.) Liberal media, my a**!

1. SOP
That's the usual case. Little mention of the 39 wounded in the morter attack (that was before the reported death). Also downplayed on the 11PM news.

Remember, no news is good news so if there's bad news then hide it.

2. I was really struck this morning
listening to NPR and how they systematically referred to the 9 solderiers as "people" - and again about the mortar attack where 34 wounded and one killed as "people"

Now is this some new spin, speak - to stop using the word "soldier" to make the sheeple believe that people = civilians and therefore nothing to see here? It was so blatant I could not believe it.

4. Actually that is a GOOD thing
bear with me

Soldiers go to war to kill and be killed, but people don't

Also I hear NPR starting to change the coverage and actually telling us about the unsong wounded... in a piece yesterday

I think they are humanizing the troops, quite brutally honest, and taht plays well... it will make people think... what the heck are we doing SENDING these people to war, to kill and be killed, and all for lies?

3. After Saddam's capture...
...the war is again over, really, this time.

We've so far had Mission Accomplished, and just recently, Mission Accomplished, Reloaded.

I can't wait for Mission Accomplished, Trinity. If today's and yesterday's developments -- the mortar attack (the first mass-casualty attack in the post-war war) and the missile strike on the C5A -- is anything to go by, it should really suck.

5. Kidnapping story, Peterson & lotto woman much more important!!
Ever notice when something bad happens in Iraq how all of a sudden cable news and others are all obsessed with talking about Michael Jackson, Scot Peterson, or whatever the story d'jour is? Today the above listed stories are dominating all channels.
How do those miserable pukes look at themselves in the mirror?
