CLINTON DON'T ASK DON'T TELL
In 1993 he asked Colin Powell to get him choices on a policy of Gays in Military.

Colin checked with other military leaders and said the only policy they would be able to get through Congress would be Don't Ask Don't Tell.

Colin told the story on Larry King Live.

1. You mean Colin "My Lai Massacre Cover-upper, Bamboozler of the UN" Powell?
Wow. I can't believe he's admitting he had any part in that. He's trying hard to redeem his soul, I guess.

4. sam nunn -- outside of powell -- is probably the biggest center of influence
on DADT.

it's also true that the military leaders foamed at the mouth over gay people openly serving.

8. Sam Nunn and John Warner stopped it with a press conference on a submarine in Norfolk.
The irony is that sub sailors - even the most politically reactionary of them - never minded gays on subs. You shower by yourself and pee by yourself, so it just doesn't matter.

defending consumers or the environment or democratic issues. He rolled over for GOP every single time and wouldn't put together a WAR ROOM for any Democratic issue including the rights of gays to serve openly in the military. Too busy carrying out Poppy Bush's agenda and covering up his crimes of office.
